I'm up to around 40 at this point. I just love watches whether it's $20 or $20,000. I don't have anything over $1000 but eventually right. I've learned all the basic maintenance from crystal replacement, batteries, bands, etc. Its an addicting hobby. I scour marketplace and online for rare finds and good deals. I'm looking for recommendations for a quality high capacity box. This $20 box is garbage.

Best ones in here are timex. My theory is the three watch collection is the best collection. I have 12 currently but hope to one day have 3 perfect watches

[–] Miginath@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

After 3 years collecting I have 12 in the box that get regular wrist time as well as 5 that are occasional wear pieces or are waiting to be repaired. I am like you and have watches that I paid between 100 and 500 for but I like them all and many have a special significance.

I got 11.. I only started collecting a year ago.. I haven't got a box like yours, though. I don't know what I would do with the original boxes they came with.

I think I'm at around 60-65.

After about 3 years too, I went from 20ish in year 1 to 6 right now, including 1 inherited, 1 custom built, 1 modded gshock and 3 that I rotate. The more I get into this hobby, the more I think a small collection is better.

[–] f0sterchild15@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Someone got bit by watch gang.

After having anywhere from 30-40, down to 5 now. And done for a long bit.

[–] SuspiciousSideEye@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Seven right now, but I went a little nuts on AliEx 11.11 and ordered 7-10 more. I’m focusing on extremely cheap versions of various styles to figure out what I like wearing before I dive into better quality pieces.

No box yet, but I’m toying with the idea of building a pedestal and trees to display my collection instead of the traditional box.

Just bought #21 tonight.

Quality over quantity my friend

[–] roksah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

4 watches, 1 yema superman 500 as everyday watch. Cartier tank must xl, my most expensive dress watch. A brew x worn limited edition watch that's still on the way. Gonna be my fun watch

Lastly a bulova jestar 2023 that I'm trying to sell

I mean, if you're going to have two, they're definitely good choices.

All I need is one with a black leather strap and one with a brown leather strap. That’s it.

[–] pi-cool@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

38 and I love each one so much I agonize over spreading the wrist time. I still enjoy looking at them and touching those I don’t wear as often but there is always the dilemma of which one to wear and constantly re-assessing. I wonder if I’m the only one struggling with which one to wear.

[–] Evening_Carry_146@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
  1. I love 1940s art deco watches , so most of my collection is Elgin's, bulovas, wittnauers, etc. most valuable is a 1943 Zenith civilian military. I love that watçh. Relentlessly accurate and runs 24 hours or more on a single full wind.

I like your watches but I don’t understand why you have so many watches, if I were you I’d sell off a good amount and get a used Tudor BB or some other entry level luxury watch. But anyways, I love the collection it’s pretty diverse, usually in big collections there’s tons of copies but I think you did well.

6 in... 20 years?

  1. Now broken Tag Formula 1 received for my 18th birthday
  2. Xetum Tyndall bought about 15 years ago after graduating college
  3. G-Shock bought for timing runs
  4. Omega aqua terra Gmt bought as a wedding present to myself 10 years ago
  5. Gulf Tag Monaco received from my wife about 5 years ago.
  6. Rolex Submariner Date, just purchased as a 10th wedding anniversary gift

Omega gets 99% of the wrist time

I have 13 “nice” watches which include Rolex, Omega and a Cartier.

I have a couple of Citizens, a G Shock and a Casio Databank as well.

I got all of these in a 2 year span and am considering selling a few to get a gold Speedy. They are great to look at but just don’t get enough wrist time.

I have a couple of Rolexes I haven’t even worn.

[–] Rahulgameover@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

only one 😭 pls someone give me money in my paypal to buy my second watch pls 😭😭

[–] Electronic_Bet_9919@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Quality over quantity

[–] TryHelping@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Close to 30 and counting, I plan to stop at 500.

[–] StoneOfTriumph@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm currently sitting at 4 watches, 2 of which are daily worn and are mechanical, the other two are quartz, and look-wise are for other occasions.

Would love to get down to 2, a "daily driver" and a special occasions one. Not sure which. to be continued!

[–] ivanlovescookies@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

5 that I claim

(I have 3 very old Michael Kors watches I can’t part with but they’re hidden)

[–] Structureel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Too many. And not enough.

[–] Ok-Method5635@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What’s that one on the bottom right second in? Looks like an Oris big crown

[–] FinishingDutch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Gun to my head, I couldn’t tell you an exact figure. I usually lowball it a bit in case someone calls me on it. I’m comfortable saying it’s ‘around 150’.

Most of those are affordable watches and a sizeable chunk are Casio’s. But there’s a few expensive pieces as well. I like a bit of variety.

[–] rebelyell_in@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have 12 in my travel case with me.

How many at home? I haven't counted. I went down the rabbit hole with Casio and HMTs watches, and then some Indian market vintage Swiss and Japanese ones... and now I'm beginning to look at vintage digital watches...

[–] DoctorRupert@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Never enough 🥲

[–] scidious06@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

3 right now, aiming for 30 watches total

It'll take me all my life to get it all and will cost around 950,000€

Tbh the last 5 watches cost more than half of the collection, My Grail is a Patek Philippe Celestial, it's around 330k

[–] adamhaywood@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

As a collector and watchrepairs person, I have about 120- 160. I stopped counting after the 80 mark and about 40-45% of them are broken and on indefinite hold or just not functioning. I have about 70 that I do wear though.

Hundreds 😬

[–] bikerbill769@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

About 25 right now but I buy to wear not resell

[–] -PinkTree@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have 4 real good watches. No seikos or hublots.

[–] u4ea500@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have 4 sub $500 watches. I think 5 is the best number for me, but that would include starting over with the exception of my Seiko SRPE55 which is my daily. 3 black dials, 1 white and 1 blue.

11, and I find that to almost be too much. For me, 12 seems to be the maximum because I want to cycle and wear them. I cant imagine having more from a wearer's perspective, for a collector yes. I am starting to feel the 3 watch collection is the perfect number. It just stinks because there are so many great timepieces our there in so many great styles. And no matter your collection size, enjoy these beautiful time tellers and give them all a wear! Cheers!

Damn I have like 7

[–] NeverAppropriate@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Around 25 at the moment. They just don’t seem to get enough wrist time even though I absolutely love all of them.

I am considering dropping down to 6 - 8 and buying the 36mm Explorer I 124270 I have been lusting after.

[–] Schapsouille@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

150+ most of them vintage. Viable only by servicing them myself.

about 30, half of which i built. the more i collect, i seem to enjoy them less.

[–] shucklessquad@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have 7, and I thought I had too many lol

[–] Jorikoh@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

2: a garmin and a Tissot Prx with dark blue dial

[–] Snocom79@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] retsukosmom@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I can’t see it in the comments, did you list these anywhere (I understand if not, it would be a long list). What is that Timex in the top left corner, and the Citizen 1 below and to the right of that Timex? Thanks! Neat collection.

[–] Mama_Skip@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I keep it at exactly five. It's a nice, even number, fits in most watch rolls/boxes, and the best part is, if I'm fancy I can wear two on each wrist and one on my cock.

[–] Cylancer7253@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I honestly don't know.

[–] 1v1_m8@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Sinn U50, Seiko SARB033, G shock square. I’ve worn nothing but my Sinn for the past year. Tbh, anything more than two is too many…
