So she's like everyone else at their job

A place for NFL news, game highlights and everything that excites you about American Football.
O yes, I’m sure we all love sideline reporting, where they’ve turned stating the obvious as if it’s insightful into performance art.
It’s almost as though you could completely eliminate sideline reports/reporters, and nobody would notice. Let’s try that
She should be fucking fired lmfao. What a complete joke. A disgrace to the profession of sports commentary and interviewing in general.
I dont see how sideline reporters dont view their iob as insulting.
i don't think she's there for her journalistic integrity
Which makes you wonder, what exactly DO these random sideline ladies offer?
Admittedly without reading through all several hundred comments... Didn't someone literally admit to this same thing like a year or two ago?
If you're going to make it up? Go all in on it:
"When asked about the Giants' struggles on offense in the first half and whether he will be making any adjustments, Coach Daboll quoted Thucydides, saying "The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it." He then turned away from me with a blank expression on his face and walked out towards the field, alone. Back to you..."
Worthless clickbait article lol
Has there ever been a more relevant article posted by AwfulAnnouncing?
I mean I figured this was the case. Same with Collinsworth. People on reddit like to hate on him because he is a hype man for the star players (like the NFL wouldn't want that) but the thing that really sticks out to me about him is his made up anecdotes. Some 3rd stringer comes in and makes a play, and all of a sudden that just so happens to be the guy Collinsworth had a 30 minute pregame conversation with. "Now here's a guy who said gee willikers Chris, we have to give it our all for 4 quarters!"
There’s entertainment value in getting the players and coaches on the mic mid game. Mostly doesn’t matter what they say. Just interesting to see an on-field conversation.
On the one hand this is kinda funny but on the other it is pretty dishonest. I know that sideline reporters aren't expected to be at the pinnacle of journalistic integrity but to work for a major network and to say this with no shame doesn't seem quite right.
What like some full blown Rita Skeeter shit?
Women have no business on a football field
working for the right network to do it.
When you look that good doing the job I’m sure it’s easy.
No one cares.
“ Vince Young couldnt be here at the game as he is on a NASA test flight to Mars “
Kind of like when Steph A or Skip or one of those commentators cite "sources"...
It's almost like being pretty shouldn't be the only qualifications for getting an all access pass to the teams during a game.
Go be a cheerleader.
That’s too funny but also shows how meaningless they are.
“Coach you’re 2-7 on 3rd down heading into halftime what do you need to do better”
Why? Why are these asked and taking up the coaches time.
I just talked to Charissa Thompson and she is adamant that this is how reporting works
So?
“I spoke to Bill Belichick just before the half and he said he’s not going to come out for the second half. He said the team is doing so bad, he’s gonna try something new and just leave.”
What she needs to do is be honest. "Sorry guys everyone just ran away and I'm not allowed to follow back to you guys in the booth!" I think it could be funny as a side story that evolves throughout the season ending in some mission impossible scenario where she is in the air vents trying to find out what the coach needs to fix going into the half.
Charissa explains it all.
I knew something was fishy when sideline reports from BB were more informative than any of his post game press conferences.
The team’s PR people do releases about the condition of players during the game anyway. At least that’s how Theismann’s injury was relayed to Frank Gifford.
it’s no different than any other kind of reporting. the times in between actual news is too wide for the amount of interest in the league so reports just get repackaged or peppered with speculation to pass the time.
and we all give them the clicks and views they need so they’ve got all the backing they really need
Amazon’s response is hilarious!
They need to be involved somehow because viewers
Probably the only strong evidence that the NFL isn't scripted. For a while they really had me. Too easy for them to write this for each game. No need to even bother coaches as they prep for the second act.
BEDNMF admits to not caring what so ever
Listen to the interview…
Thompson joined Barstool
Wasn't she the one who was beefing with them over comments about her child?
Sideline reporters have one duty and that it to look attractive. Nobody really takes their spots seriously.
When they come out half the rumors that spread around trade time is bullshit too
How much is that salary? Ill gladly make shit up too.
who gives a fuck
Good. In-game coach interviews are dumb. It’s a waste of the coach’s time, and the coaches rarely say anything of value.
It’s not just sideline reporters. All those little anecdotes and insights into players minds and motivations that Collinsworth busts out are almost certainly bullshit.
Pro sports has become professional wrestling, just without a predetermined outcome (maybe). The modern sports media’s obsession with “storylines” is killing the way the game is covered.
time for sports to move on from bimbos like her & himbos (looking at you Jordan Rodgers) & reward actual journalists with tv time
She said this on Pardon My Take and I was so surprised she admitted it. Apparently her bosses already knows about this and she no longer does any sideline reporting so it doesn't matter anymore. She didn't want to do it anymore anyway.
Doesn't matter much anyways. Coach speak to sideline reporters is mostly useless. Injury reports and other sideline occurrences are the only thing that is meaningful.
Sideline reports are really stupid and pointless and I can’t wait until they’re over.
Wait PFT Commenter is a media personality now? And he goes by the name PFT Commenter?
They're never that insightful anyhow "Well I talked to the coaching staff and he told me they need to do more to score touchdowns and also to stop the other team from scoring touchdowns. That's their strategy going into the 2nd half so we will see if they can pull it off"
Sideline reporting doesn't need to happen. Adds no value.
I watch with the sound down, so as long as she stays hot, I’ll allow it.
So we just watch a reality tv show?
