Opposite of the other thread, I realized that Cade Cunningham would be better suited to the past era, since he has a high bball iq but outdated shot selection and spacing. Would probably be a star instead of called a bust already. Sabonis, Gobert, Paolo would all be top ten too I think.

Derozan is obvious.

Julius Randle. Basically Zach Randolph with more spacing

[–] ogqozo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

All of them really. Like look at NBA games lol. Dudes do so much more today. I see someone like Jokić who will make at least 40% of decently timed three-pointers and I think "well, in itself it's nothing special for a 7-footer nowadays" lol. Even past-it LeBron would outperform prime LeBron lol. Anyone who denies the facts is just ignoring what the games really look like for sake of "ranking players" obsession.

Draymond would have thrived on November 19, 2004

[–] gigglios@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dray would run scared of a guy like artest and oneal lol

[–] Solid-Confidence-966@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This current version of Bradley Beal ironically lol

Gobert would be seen as an all-timer if he played in the 2000’s

[–] gigglios@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What lol. Gobert won like 4 dpoys in his era. What would even change lmfao.

People are calling Cade a bust? He's gonna be an all star

[–] GeoffSproke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I feel like it's way too early to call Cade a bust.

I would’ve love to have seen Ausar Thompson guard a peak Kobe.

Ausar is already a stud perimeter defender at just 20 years old. He’d be better suited in those more defensive friendly eras.

Rui Hachimura is probably an all star with his midrange

[–] Icy_Wind5285@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Valančiūnas would be 20+ppg 10+rpg every year if you dropped him off in the 2000s

[–] osirisunset@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No social media Ja Morant? Face of the league

[–] ProskXCX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Talent was lacking back then so everyone.

Jonas Valanciunas in the early to mid 2000s would probably be a 5-10x All Star.

Centers were incredibly weak then, and he is a walking 20 & 10. If he's in the East from 2000-2010 I think he is a 5+ All Star. He grabs a lot of rebounds which that era, counting stats were really all anyone looked at. He is also very healthy and plays most games each season.

This was an era that saw Jamal Magloire, Brad Miller, Alonzo Mourning, Vlade Divac all make all star teams while averaging like 10-12 ppg or playing ~20 games. Valanciunas being a steady 20 & 10 in the era where Shaq was fading and Dwight hadn't dominated yet would be hard to vote against. Boban too would probably be a couple time all star in the 2000s.

That Magloire Allstar nod is one of those things that always catches me off guard everytime it gets brought up.

[–] Kuntsaw@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well Booker in the 2000s is basically a better Rip Hamilton with better playmaking

[–] ComfortableDino@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cunningham wouldn't have been a star.

[–] Gamewiz2x3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Gobert playing in a league with awful spacing and offensive schemes that refused to adapt to the lack of the illegal defense rule would be disgusting. Or maybe coaches would have gotten mad that he wasn't poasting up 10+ times a game, who knows. Derozen would have been pretty great too, and Zion would have been even more of a monster. I'll say Mobeley too, in the Gobert category of great rim protector who can't shoot and struggles with offense.

[–] middletonisrobin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Andre Drummond. Spacing not as big of an issue and he would dominate the glass.

[–] Troll-e-poll-e-o-lee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Enes Kanter was quite scorer around the basket. Probably wouldn’t be as big of a defensive liability since there was less switching and covering the 3

[–] ComfortableDino@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There's a lot of ignorance here. A LOT of players today couldn't cut it in the middle 2000s. Stars included.

[–] Baguy21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sabonis, doesn't get appreciated much for his work rate

[–] Dat_Boi_John@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Boban would probably be an all star in the late 90dms - early 2000s era. Imagine a Boban Shaq matchup. Would be awesome.

[–] Doc_Mattic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s probably a few years out of the league but Jahlil Okafor - classic back to the basket big.

[–] DazzlingMongoose2204@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lebron J...oh wait

[–] Alex_O7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Many, Derozan if he keeps his Kobe like ability would have been a high 20s ppg game with people comparing him to Kobe and MJ.

Drummond would have been something like little Shaq.
