ChatGPT is telling me to go to Antarctica. Not sure about the cost of living there. And besides, I don't think their food game all that.

Seriously though, where have you spent a considerable amount of time and seen no roaches (the American and German types)?

The farther away from the equator you are, the more expensive the cost of living. The farther away from the equator you are, the fewer roaches you will see . Alaska has no roaches, no snakes and just a few ticks have infiltrated thus far.

What people think he's asking: 'Please name a cheap place that literally has 0 roaches, if scanned with a science fiction life signs scanner"

What he's actually asking: "Please name a place where roaches are incredibly rare"

Legit. My Canadian family were total slobs with garbage and the first time I saw a roach was in my clean Japanese apartment.

Why don't you ask chat gpt about living cost comparison antarctica vs thailand and start from there. They might change their idea

Uh, don't think I ever had a roach in my condos in over 4 years in Thailand. Just an occasional gecko.

Do not go to Taiwan then.

Don’t be poor and you’ll see less roaches.

Go somewhere colder, at least the roaches will be smaller.

I’m in Laos currently and have seen WAY less roaches here than Thailand.

[–] newbzzzzzz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

[–] rpithrew@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

New york city , the country

[–] founderscurve@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Roaches are everywhere but if you’re clean and have bug spray and roach traps it’ll help, also don’t live on lower floors if you’re in a condominium you’ll have an easier time. You can consider malaysia as an option

[–] JollyManufacturer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Malaysia has a shit ton of roaches. Literally 4 out of 5 apartments and hotels I stayed in had roaches

[–] similarities@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

First night in KL, I visited the Chinatown. While eating at an outdoor vendor, I saw a family of roaches chilling not too far from me…

[–] otherwiseofficial@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

ChatGTP is right lol

[–] BNeutral@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Only country almost without roaches is Iceland, but the cost of living is not close at all to Thailand.

[–] HaleyN1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Alberta Canada. I never saw a Roach in two years. Bonus - the whole province is Rat free.

[–] xQuaff@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Cost of living aspect doesn't match though. Canada is beautiful as a country though, not sure if living in it makes much sense nowadays, especially for someone who has options to consider other places.

Roaches are literally everywhere. When humanity dies off, roaches will still be here. They'll evolve to eat plastic and shit dirt and be the next overlords (maybe).

[–] chilliwednesday@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I never saw a cockroach in Scotland in 10 years living there, one of my favourite things about the country haha but the cost of living is 3 or 4 times than Thailand ofc

[–] ClearUnderstanding30@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Never seen one in England too…apart from rats 🐀 we have quite a few in some parts.

Malaysia is good

[–] WasteAmbassador47@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Similar cost of living and 0 roaches? Russia is the answer, but probably not the answer you want.. Oh, and Mongolia as well.

[–] CSCAnalytics@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Closest is probably “The Moon”

[–] alwayspretty9999@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Roaches are everywhere. I’m also afraid of them. I find that if you live in an expensive neighbourhood, you don’t see them.

[–] chrisscottish@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Scotland, beautiful but the weather is shit and we are now quite expensive .......... Food game is good (seafood, game and meat) but a little bland

[–] tnishantha@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I have seen a few here in Sri Lanka, but only in the cities, I am in the countryside now, only about 100kms outside of Colombo and no cockroaches so far.

(But I imagine if you travel away from the cities in Thailand you will see them less too…)

[–] tzippora@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What's the rent like there now?

[–] Puzzled-World-5481@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve been having problems with German roaches every night for months until I realised they crawled up from the drains, so taped them all and no roaches since.

[–] don_valley@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I believe any new condo should be fine without roaches, no matter where you’re at

[–] newmes@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

you need a colder spot, or at least one that has a cold winter.

Perhaps try countries like:

Georgia, Albania, and others in Eastern Europe.

[–] NiceCuntry@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Colder, poor places. Quito, La Paz, Bogota...

[–] rarsamx@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It can be Thailand. Just chose accommodations without roaches. When I was there I don't remember seeing any or maybe I was not paying attention because they don't bother me. I'm sure if I were paying attention I'd see them.

[–] zvdyy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Malaysia way less I guess

[–] Far_Nose@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lol, never come to Mayalsia. I have been to Penang and Kuala Lumpur. It's one of the worst places I have been too for roaches. Literally, in the most expensive hotels and Airbnb you will find American roaches and European ones. Look at under 4 star review or even 4.5 star Google reviews and people are taking pictures of cockroaches in food. Thailand is actually better than Mayalsia for cockroaches.

UK is amazing for cockroaches hardly any once outside of London. Even in London it's hard to find. Bahrain used to be good as well, but due to the economic downturn a lot of the empty flats there are gaining roaches. But overall the gulf states have really good food hygiene so you won't find many restaurants with a roach problem.

Japan and Korea are good as well for roaches not as much there.

[–] expertrainbowhunter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You would despise Sydney

[–] Starsuponstars@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Don't go to Greece. Their roaches are big enough to beat you up and take your lunch money.

Cairo is great

[–] Majestic-Salt7721@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

South Korea. Not much wildlife and haven't seen a roach in 15 years living here. :)

[–] thales_of_albany@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Central Asia.

I used to live in Thailand, moved to Kazakhstan. No roaches, no bugs, odd mosquito in the summer.

Cheaper here, and certainly cheaper in Uzbekistan where I also never saw any roaches.

We are at the top of the food chain. Don't be scared. The roaches are scared of you. Your best bet is a country that gets below freezing temps so that it helps control the bug population naturally. Any bugs thrive in hot climates.

[–] the_tank@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I went to Antarctica and can confirm no roaches. Cost of living was actually super affordable - I had a job at a research base so all the basics were free, and I got paid on top of that! The food was a lot better than you'd expect, but we did have to go a while without fresh fruit veggies as the deliveries couldn't get in. But we survived and the cooks did an incredible job!
