Years ago, I went to Medellin with just basic Spanish. I did okay, and learned over time.

Now I'm curious about Brazil but don't know any real Portuguese. I'd slowly learn over time but am not in the mood to just lock myself in room and study hardcore for 1 month.

So I'd likely arrive without much language skill.

Would this be okay in a large city like Sao Paulo? Or it's just asking for a bad time?

Solid. That should get you by for 2 years in a pinch. Very nice.

I'd prefer another country, where foreigners aren't regularly targeted for druggings, robberies, and assaults. This year has not been good in that regard for Medellin lol. I'm not going there. And I know the city well and speak Spanish.

My savings account goes up not down. Build a business or something that will set you up financially.

But when I was beginning, I had like $20K in savings and I would have probably been worried if it dropped below $10K

True. This is because trading your time for money sucks and is difficult.

I identify myself as an entrepreneur first and nomad/traveler second. Nobody has ever asked me how I can afford any of it. They know I can afford it

Moving and changing position more often is healthier. If standing part of the time helps with this then yes. It's healthy

Thanks. I didn't think it'd be dangerous elsewhere, just less pleasant

Thanks. Was 100% gonna do Miraflores and almost never leave hahaha. Judge if you must, fellow redditors

I remember big protests last year in the news.

I'm thinking of heading to Lima for the first time in January. Are things back to normal now?

I'm considering buying iPhone 15 in US and read that there's no physical sim card slot, so it's only e-sim.

Will this work in every country? Has anyone here been nomadding just with e-sims?

I want to make sure I want get caught out in a country with simply no ability to get a sim.

I don't go anywhere too wild like Yemen, Afghanistan, etc.

But I like to visit countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Peru, Paraguay, etc.

Thanks for any help!
