This should applies to all team owners, if you cannot pay for your own stadium by yourself, then get bent when it comes to getting taxpayer funding. Taxpayer funding should go to more important things like healthcare, policing, etc.

The bucks and community to have benefited mutually from their new stadium but in okc it’s the community benefits less
How does it work when a city pays for an arena, or most of it? Do they own it and lease it to the team? Is the lease a material amount or is at a low cost? Does the city make revenue off the other activities at the stadium (concerts, etc.)?
Meanwhile on the other side of the pond the two football teams in Milan have been trying for over 10 years to build not one but two 100% privately funded Stadiums, but the City of Milan is so shameless that it wants them to either:
-Continue playing in the publicly owned Stadium, which however iconic has been last refurbished in the 80's and built in the 30's, so they continue to pay a very pricey rent to the City.
-Refurbish the public stadium at their own expense with no guarantee of an ownership share or of reduced rent.
-Build the two privately funded Stadiums and then DONATE them to the city.
Both clubs have drawn multiple plans to build the Stadiums which have been rejected left right and center, and they even proposed to refurbish the old Stadium in exchange for shared ownership (the Stadium is so old refurbishing it to modern standards would cost more than the two privately owned ones together), which has also been rejected.
The rationale is that no team moves in European sports, and rightfully so, so if they can't build new Stadiums both teams will be forced to continue pay rent. Absolutely moronic reasoning by the Public Administration.
What constantly happens in the US is criminal, Billionaires shouldn't get public funding to build privately owned projects, but if said Billionaires want to build brand new Stadiums on their own, on land that they rightfully buy, you should fucking let them.
Just shows how football in Europe and Europeans as a whole have more collective power and a different relationship to their teams. Teams are literally public/private entities and supporters have way more power.

Nothing owners know that newer stadiums increase revenue from more high end seating being sold. Think box seats think expensive dining lounges so every twenty years owners with threaten to leave if not given a new stadium so they can take home more money.
They never pay off. Crazy this is not general knowledge at this point.

Taxpayers always lose in public financed stadiums. Look at Oakland, Los Angeles, etc.
Owners should put up 100% of the costs. They make obscene amounts of money off the Dana who are the taxpayers.
If not giving your owner tax payer money means they leave town. Let them Leave. NBA teams should be here for Fans not the other way around.
