In this soft ass day and age…. of course lol
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
Yes and no. Yes they were ducks and they’d get hate. No because all of them were better at their jobs than draymond who is riding Steph’s coattails
Dude straight up dipped on his team to party lol Everyone did have hate him lol
Rodman = Maybe
Laimbeer = Absolutely
Mahorn = Eh, probably not
Bowen = Absolutely
Way more
Everyone hated those players in their era. Rodman and Laimbeer were the league's heels for their entire careers.
Rodman would be a GOD. Nephews would eat up The Worm’s act and ask for seconds.
Bruce Bowen would be the basketball-elitists favorite player. (I loved Bruce. Great glue guy.)
Mahorn is Draymond. Same dude. Bit shorter than Rick but same attitude. Both play “over the line” but are respectable because of their competitiveness.
Laimbeer would be loathed in any era, by anyone with any scruples or sense of fair play. Any soccer fans? He’s Pepe, from Real Madrid. Master of the dark arts.
Probably, Reddit is reactionary, emotional, and personal as fuck so your point doesn't really even matter.
I like how in all of the chaos that was Laimbeer and the bad boys, you had Joe Dumars being the most sportsmanlike person ever on that team - almost threw a punch after being whacked by Danny Ainge before Dumars.exe resumed.
I hate Laimbeer and I've never even watched a game of his lmao. So I guess yes is the answer.
Absolutely. Rodman would be banned from the league actually.
I hate draymond because he is a bitch. That doesn’t apply to any of them, all whom I saw play.
Depends on the flair, but yes without a doubt. As dirty as Draymond is, he has nothing on the Bad Boys or Bruce Bowen.
I hate those guys now
Magic Johnson nicknamed me Laimbeer when I was 10.
When I was 10, I went to Magic Johnson’s basketball camp. Magic watched me play for a little bit and nicknamed me Laimbeer for how I would get after rebounds and how I was taller and bigger than most of the other kids. He was amazingly kind and a great teacher. He’d randomly play full court basketball against 20 laughing kids. It was a lot of fun.
Fast forward a couple days of camp later, I was walking off the court and I hear someone scream “LAIMBEER!!” from the other side of the blacktop. I turn around and it’s Magic Johnson remembering me from before and to just talk about how camp is going.
I felt like the coolest kid alive. Amazing guy.
Laimbeer was such a heel
Rodman is the GOAT rebounder by a bigger gap than Jordan is for scoring.
Dray is a great player, but being the best that ever did it in one of the big three stats would probably be enough to keep people stanning him.
Also a lot of Rodman’s hate came from his flamboyant personal life that nowadays is much less objectionable to the average NBA fan.
speak for yourself, not everyone hates draymond. so fun to watch. Literally no other players getting triple doubles with 0 points lol.
People only hate Draymond because he’s not on their team.
The thing about Rodman, Laimbeer, Mahorn, and Bruce Bowen is that.... At least they had distinct, compelling personalities. In my opinion. Draymond is just, idk.... Obnoxious? Entitled? He has nothing to offer other than "rangz" and shit talk. Laimbeer at least had that Johnny Lawrence, Cobra Kai thing going for him. He was a spoiled, smug, son of a millionaire rich kid, and he LEANED into that persona. He knew he was the motherfucker you loved to hate, and people ate it up. Rodman was over the top, and larger than life, easy to be attracted to. Mahorn was a lunch pail guy, what he lacked in talent & skill, he made up for in effort in grit. He just beat you down, and you respected him for it because it was all he got. Bruce Bowen was pretty boring, but he was straightforward. Didn't have an oversized ego and just did the dirty work. Draymond, he has none of that situational charm, none of that personality. He's just an asshole, demanding respect for his rings that largely came off the backs of two of the most generational athletes ever (Curry & KD) he's no Johnny Lawrence. He's the sniveling guy in the back running his mouth after every move Curry makes. AKA, a dork!
These guys were hated a lot more than draymond. But the hate grew organically, not with the help of social media helping to get the narrative rolling.
To this day I still stand by the belief that Bill Laimbeer is, was and always will be A FUCKING ASSHOLE
We did hate Bowen that much in the moment lol. Dude was zazaing guys before zaza
I don't know about the others, including Draymond, but concerning if prime Rodman plays today I can say at least he produces. Draymond today is not good while doing his antics.
Nobody would dare express hatred of Rick Mahorn out of fear.
Laimbeer was a bitch similar to what Draymond is. Rodman was different. He did some dumb stuff and he was obnoxious in his own way, but in ways that were much different than Dray.
Dirty players are hated. It’s the cycle of life.
The problem with Donkey is he pretends like nothing happens. You see? His reasoning is just straight BS. He knows he’s dirty but still pretends like he’s the good guy. That Rudy Gobert thing for sure was planned already. He just waited for The Right Moment to pounce on Rudy and that was obvious.
Pretty sure Laimbeer would just be considered a "high IQ, good shooter, lunch pail guy" kind of player. The rest, absolutely
Oh snap!! LOL.
The sub hates everyone
