Playoffs aren't until June so game won't be cancelled. Yes I would still enjoy going to a game that isn't my own teams. Do it!
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
I would target the January 15th game against Brooklyn or if you can spend more Saturday January 27th against the Knicks.
That would allow you to do some other stuff in NYC too.
Just want to back up the others saying this is really sweet. Great wife!
Nba games very rarely get cancelled. So rare that's it not even worth considering. You can honestly but tickets day off like a couple of hours before to see if the resellers lower the prices, but sometimes they just hide behind fees. I would assume a fan of basketball would join Enjoy an NBA game regardless of the teams. But basketball snobs do exist that might preach about playing the right way.
The only thing I'll add is that blizzards sometimes result in cancelled games. Rare, but it happens. In those cases, your ticket will be good for a later game.
I was wondering what is happening in January. Covid 2.0 or sth
Where do you live? Go to any game where they are playing against Miami. I live in SD and we don’t have a team anymore, so we go to see our team (Warriors) when they play in LA. Excited because we are going to a double header at Crypto next month.
There are also going to be games in Las Vegas for the in season tournament I think? But that might be costly.
If you go to Ticketmaster you can look up the Miami Heat, then filter by away games and then see what is close to you. Looks like you can go see them play the Nets, the Raptors (if you can go to Canada) and the Wizards and some of the seats look cheap af. If you can, buy tickets that are center of the court, even if they are nosebleeds. But even corner pockets can be good if they are close. Depends on what kind of view you are looking for. Also, you can look up seat views by googling it. Good luck! You can DM me if you want, I’m a wife that loves basketball and can help you!
We went to an Atlanta hawks and Charlotte hornets game on a lark when we were younger and it was awesome.
If you can pick a majority black city to see a basketball game do it, they just have more fun. Atlanta Detroit DC - the party in the seats between game time is just as fun as the game if not more so if you aren't committed to the team.
But then my wife got us tickets to more bball games - can't really go anymore with a kid on the way but it's such a great gesture. It'll be a blast no matter where you go.
You don't even need to nessisarily purchase the tickets straight up. You could write a really nice card and give it to him on Xmas saying that I want to take you to a game but I need your input on it
Then both of you sit down and start to look at it and let him take the lead
I would pick their February game @ New Orleans. CHEEEEEAAAAP tickets and it's freaking New Orleans! There's fun for any lifestyle there! Also, your room & board will be exponentially cheaper than the NE if you play it right.

I used Google Flights and found some quick cheap round trip fares for 2 people (beware Spirit and other budget airlines, you'll pay for everything not in the ticket fare).
Based on my initial search, I would try to book rooms at the Holiday Inn New Orleans. The Smoothie King Center is approximately 0.6 miles away from the Holiday Inn New Orleans Downtown Superdome. New Orleans was made for walking, get out and see the crazy people and cool sights!
Then, eat some Crawfish Etouffee while you're there for me please...
The Mavs (my team) and New Orleans have had two great games (1-1 for each team). Miami is legit and I wouldn't be surprised to see the players put on a show!
If he’s a heat fan he’ll love a pink beanie and Starbucks also. But most of the comments answer those questions
You are safe to buy tickets now. The games don’t change. Regular season games are scheduled all the way through the end of April. Short of there being some act of God: hurricane, blizzard, pandemic shut down etc. The games will played as scheduled.
It is playoff games that are not yet known. Those are based on the results of the regular season. They start at the end of April. But even then, only the teams that are actually in the playoffs will sell tickets and you’ll know who is playing in those games ahead of time. Can’t accidentally buy tickets and different teams show up or don’t show up at all.
So feel free to buy tickets now to any game in your area where the Heat are the opponent. They’ll be there.
The regular season schedule is set in advance at the beginning of the season, so buying a regular season ticket between say the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat play in Brooklyn on Jan 15th is a sure deal to see the Heat play.
The only way that a regular season game would be rescheduled is if there is something crazy going on that would affect the fans and players safety (extreme weather), which is very rare. I think there was one game out of like 1,200+ NBA games last season that was moved because the weather was so bad that one team couldn’t make it (flights were grounded when a team was scheduled to fly). I think that game was rescheduled to the next day, and people with tickets to the cancelled game are valid for the rescheduled game.
There are In Season Tournament games that are regular season games you can go see like normal regular season games (these are to see who gets into the extra tournament games). The tournament games are scheduled, but the teams aren’t. And teams that don’t get in will play a couple of extra regular season games to catch up to those. All of that will be done by Dec 9th, so you don’t have to worry about it for January games. The Playoffs are the other one that aren’t scheduled and we don’t know who will be playing (well, the Heat are likely to be in the playoffs), but all those will happen starting in April, and since the playoffs are best of seven, only four of the possible seven games are guaranteed to be played, depending on the outcome of the games.
TLDR: If you can buy a ticket in January between a local team and the Heat, you are guaranteed to see the Heat play that team on the day on the ticket.
Enjoy the game! NBA is a fantastic in-arena experience. It will be a fun night out for you
All regular season games will happen as scheduled. Any games you find right now for the regular season will 100% occur. Only playoff games may not occur but those games are in may/June and won’t be on sale yet
Hi, you are very sweet. Don't feel bad because this is awkward for you, that makes it a nicer present in my view.
In January, the games are scheduled. It's not like the playoffs, which happen in the spring, where the opponents, dates, etc can be to-be-determined situations.
If the schedule says that the Knicks are playing the Heat on January 22 at Madison Square Garden, then the Knicks and Heat are playing that day at MSG. I recommend using an app called TickPick. Good luck and have fun!
The Andersons got tickets to the game ?!
