Because Wemby honestly hasn't been performing . Even his 27 points last night, though had a few highlights, was underwhelming considering he was -31 in p/m.
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
Generational talents change teams the moment they start playing for them. Spurs were ass, and they're even worse this year. What's there to post?
People barely post highlights here anymore, it’s disappointing
It's all about how wrong we were about harden now.
Who was wrong about Harden? Not me.
No idea. He had some good moments today. The spurs fed him on a few lobs, which is a play they need to do way more of.
There were another 15 lob (or at least roll or flash opportunities) that didn't happen last night because guys had their eyes down. The most infuriating thing about this current Spurs team isn't the defensive lapses or the lack of boxing out or the atrocious shot selection...it's the inability to see the floor and throw entry passes on time.
Novelty wore off
He's doing his thing, ineficient, inconsistent, but that's expected. It's just that the spurs are really bad right now
Dude will lose ROTY with the way he is rn. What’s there to post?
No he won’t lol you think a guy who has better efficiency because he is playing a significantly easier role on a way better team is going to win? You’re out of your mind, Chet is just a role player right now, Wemby is the primary player on his team and he js just improvising out there.
Why don’t you go back to collecting porn, you don’t know ball
Not alot of people talk when he's not playing too well and the Spurs have been really bad
Wembustyama's never gonna make it back on here again!
Nah... The spurs haven't been playing so well, and the teams they've been playing against saw what he was doing in the first few games and adjusted... I'd be really surprised if there weren't a few cycles of [opponents adjust to counter new player's strengths -> player finds way around adjustments or other ways to emphasize strengths -> opponents adjust] for every rookie...

100% this.
He's definitely still had his highlight moments in pretty much every game. The Spurs have just been pretty bad so I don't think as many non-spurs, fans are really tuning in.
Plus people are starting to get a bit more used to some of the stuff he does (like the fade away jumpers, step back three, or lob catches that his teammates wayyyy over threw) and not as excited about it.
He's also had a few games where he's looked like a 19-year-old rookie with tons of talent but very little idea of how to use it, on a team as a whole that's struggling to understand how to use him so far. He has taken his lumps early which is to be expected.
Which of course in the world of rational take reddit means he isn't that good, and a lot of people have moved on to loving or hating something else already.
get that man a real PG ffs
I think they will. I think right now they're really interested in seeing what parts of the game victor most enjoys and feels comfortable with more than worrying about his on court success. I read an article a few days ago kind of breaking down pop's process on it which was interesting. About how they've kind of just instructed the team to get him the ball when he calls for it and let him do what he thinks is best for him and the team. And they've been taking notes on the things that they do like, things they don't like, places where he succeeds, and the parts of the game he struggles in. I think when they have a bit of a better idea of how they wanted to develop him, if he should be in the post, the high post, on the perimeter etc. Etc. They'll start making more investments both in running set plays for him as well as the roster.
I really hope the Spurs managed to get Nikola topic in the draft. I think he's one of the better passing prospects of the last decade and would be an incredible fit with the nucleus of Victor, Jeremy, Devin
Seriously...the difference Tre Jones (A guy who got significantly less than Coby White did this summer, to put him into perspective) makes to our offense if fucking incredible.
48 minutes of replacement-level PG play would be an enormous improvement over what we're seeing.
I'll still do my best to tune in if the Spurs are on and I'm not busy. Wemny definitely has a lot of promise, the potential to make a play that is jaw dropping, and is fun to watch. It's just that the rest of the team outside him and Vassell is kind of a slog to watch for a non-Spurs fan.
Obviously, understand it's very much a team that's in progress. I know Sochan has his detractors, but also understand that Popp is using this season (and likely the next one) to try things out, let guys grow together. Wouldn't be surprised to see them ascend again relatively soon, health permitting.
Losing makes you irrelevant unless you’re James Harden
Be the change you want to see in the world
I'm telling you that one good player is not enough to convince most people to watch a bad team like the Spurs. They'll come back eventually
Alternatively, I wish the Kings played in a better time zone. :(
actually it is
but this sub is obsessed with TS%, and his is not very good rn
It's like I said going into the season (and some people wanted to disagree for....some reason...?!?)
Wemby will have some incredible moments, but the Spurs fucking suck. They lack talent. They aren't good.
(I remember someone on here arguing with me that the Spurs do have talent, but they can't score in ISO because they are young. WTF?!? That's literally the time young, talented players score the most in ISO. When they don't yet have the league down, but have pure, raw talent.)
Wemby will still get highlights played. They just don't hit the same when they are followed up with "as the 12-46 Spurs lost by 32 points to the Charlotte Hornets."
They lack talent
I keep saying this, and I will say it again.
There's talent on this team. It's just young, raw talent. There are ten dudes on this team younger than Kris and Keegan Murray. There are six guys younger than Brandon Miller and the Thompson Twins.
Please please let this be the new "This sub loves piling on the Lakers but what about the Western Conference Champs Suns being 1-3?" pasta from a couple years ago.
Something new and previously unknown is more interesting than something that is not? What the hell.
Spurs are actually still kinda watchable when Tre Jones plays, so of course Tre is playing like 25 minutes a game if at all so they can focus on tanking and being really bad. This team when playing Jeremy Sochan as PG is comfortably one of the worst offenses AND defenses in modern NBA history. Wemby is also already more in the "spooky youth development" than "show us the best you can" phase. He has to learn it's not Europe and what a "rebuild" really is.
He sucks. Basically a 7 foot 6 trea young
Oversaturation + the Spurs are ass. Everyone is now just waiting for the Wemby absolutely gets posterized and broken in half highlight.
"And there's a three by Wen-ba-yana to cut the lead to 28!"
Well they still need to build a team around him. He’s great but probably be a couple years before the Spurs are a major threat
people are sick of wemby being forced on them just like espn forcing deuce tatum
no one on this sub actually watches basketball games sadly
cry about it
Hasn’t been doing anything since the suns game.
They're speechless at how bad project point Sochan is going
cos Chet better fr fr
