The reality of reviews is exactly like reviews of movies or games. Find a reviewer whose opinions on stuff reliably match things you do own, and from there, if they like something, odds are you will.

I have an inverse relationship with Timmy, as an example. He loves vocals, i do not. So stuff he likes tends to bore me, no matter how good he says it is, it's rare that we both like a product. I tend to agree with crinacle and zeos' opinions, not with HBB.

People really seem to want too much objectivity from what boils down to a super subjective experience.

But Zeos likes everything? /s … kinda

I am not sure I like this review. I do typically like resolves reviews, and have purchased iems due to his reviews and been happy.

It was 3:30 into a 6:30 review where I first heard what I might expect to be a statement about the actual sounds he heard. Granted, talk about harman and preference might have distracted me, but as someone that might purchase the iem I am really left wanting. When he started to wax poetic on eq I stopped. I greatly respect his knowledge, but what is the point of watching a video on an iem if one of the take aways are just eq bro?

If I do not have a variations or have not really heard it, this video makes little sense to me.

Yeah in hindsight I shouldn't have assumed folks are familiar with how the Variations sounds, and given a more thorough description of the sound. Definitely something for me to improve on.

I haven't reviewed the Variations. But as someone who has reviewed the Nova, I can say I do agree with resolve and some of the comments commentors have left on the video.

Its a really good iem, specially if you are into ACG music, J-Pop, K-pop. It does lack a bit of that bass texture which the chopin is better at, but a bit of eq can solve that. Nova also performs really well with the divinus tips too and the double flanged, foam tips included in the box.

If I am not wrong, it was on sale for $115 on the shenzhen audio aliexpress store during the 11/11 sales. A great deal at that 🙂

Bonus point :- The included pouch is surprisingly good! Very practical for day to day use.

Pophead and ACG listener here and this sounds very appealing... will be keeping an eye out for another sale it seems

Awesome! There is actually one sale going on now at the shenzhen audio Ali store. Its on sale for $115

Uhh Kpop is all I listen to, now you made me consider a new IEM... How does Nova compare to Zero Red? I find those quite enjoyable already, would Nova bring a new experience to music for me?

I haven't reviewed to the zero or zero red, although I have briefly listened to original zero. And this is a clear upgrade over it.

The price of $115 is really good if bought from the shenzhen audio aliexpress store.

Not my review, but do you agree with that statement?

Resolve slowly becoming an objectivist /s. But seriously, as I hear more and more headphones, the more the subjective qualities define it for me, more than anything we can see from the fr. Don't get me wrong, I get that "resolution" and such is only a description and isn't something scientific, and that should be clearly stated.

But when I eq everything to a target, and yet the headphones still sound completely different, the less tonality matters to me. Then sometimes, I forget I have the wrong eq loaded, and I don't even notice for a while, because the headphone still has those core "subjective" traits. For me, the fr only tells me if there's anything wrong.

TLDR imo the subjective experience is much more important than measurements for a review. If a review only includes the subjective, I'll still watch it. If a review is only measurements, I'm not watching that review.

Nova is good if you need the bass. But choppin is a better iem and is my recommendation if you can afford it.

[–] Yoon-Ah@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Would you mind expanding on it? I have my eyes on the Chopin but I would not discard the Nova outright if it might be a good choice as well.

To give you context, I have the Variations and I love it, not a single fault for me. Great for my music, like kpop and soundtracks. I was looking for a "cheaper" Variations so I could take with me on travels, etc.

I thought about the Nova but it graphs so similar and I wondered, maybe the Chpin could be a better choice since it is similar but at least an little bit different.

[–] Jaytiss@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Like the nova sounds blunted on tracks. It’s weird. If you can afford it, it’s worth the upgrade for the Chopping.

Idk, I bought the Hexa as everyone said it's a mini B2 Dusk (which I actually had at the time) and found them not that comparable. Both sounded just as I'd expect something to sound relative to its MSRP. I'm not an expert on "technical performance" outside of a FR graph, but I'm sceptical about the "Variations for $150".

[–] PutPineappleOnPizza@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Very relatable. I don't trust reviews anymore. Got the Aful P5 and called it a day. Some say it's as good as the B2 Dusk, others say it isn't. Some say it's close to 500$ IEM performance. Man, I don't care anymore, all I know is that I have fun with them, especially in the evening, when I'm tired and on my sofa, while zoning out to nice music.

[–] sunjay140@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They said that it was a mini Blessing 2, not B2 Dusk
