Extremely stupid and I think less of Wenger for this

I'll die on this hill. The offside rule isn't about these millimetres' decisions, it's about strikes not camping in front of the goal. Just check it with the video with the naked eye. No lines needed. If it's obviously offside, call it. Otherwise, play on

Isn't this just offside lines but from the other side of the attacker ? Same issues.

Will be more goals , I think it's okay. People want to see more goals

Love this idea. I can’t wait to see it soon.

These pricks are considering every stupid idea under the sun except the one most football fans agree on, the live broadcasting of VAR audio, which they have already shut down.

Shit rule, please don't

[–] Italianskank@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Timo Werner would have won the golden boot for Chelsea with this

Inzaghi coming out of retirement

Even if it was perfectly implemented. It massively increases the efficacy of the (boring) low block and will make any form of high line pointless

I give it one season before everyone complains and e go back to regular offsides. They need to worry about fixing the handball rule first, or institute effective time in football to stop time wasting instead of trying to fix the one thing that isn't broken in world football.

Horrible idea. This will kill the high line and matches will be less exciting. Teams will play much deeper in their own half.

Just get rid off VAR, be a leanient on the offside rules(checking to see if a toe is offside for 5 min is madness) and allow body contact and competition for the ball with their bodies and just fucking do it like in the early 2000s.

The article is gone now, I assume that was fake news. And thanks god for that! They wouldn't change a rule that changes both attacking and defensive play completely with a half-year notice. And after all: this wouldn't change anything about what we consider bad about offsides right now -- tight offsides will still be given, the position would just be different. Just saw an Australian man fall to his knees.

This idea was pure elitism. 90% of football worldwide doesnt even have var

[–] LipiG@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

more like 99%

Hockey (field hockey) used to have the same offside rule as Football, and now has no offside at all.

However there was a period in the middle where you could only be offside in the final quarter of the field. I've often thought that change could help football, spreading out the defense more, while still avoiding seagulling by strikers, and constant long balls.

I think everyone is missing the most important part. He recommended this rule change from the future.

[–] Sr_DingDong@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

How does this change anything?
