I'm glad orcas have finally had enough of our shit.

+1

I am wholly and unironically on the orcas' side here.

They target small sailing boats that do no harm.

It's like attacking children because their parents are bad.

[–] tuxtey@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

That'll learn em

[–] be_excellent_to_each_other@kbin.social 33 points 11 months ago (4 children)

I'm just worried that people will start shooting them. Otherwise I agree.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 31 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Orcas mourn, that would be downright fucking insane. Elephants mourn and will literally track you for months to trample your ass for killing one of them.

[–] vxx@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

Theories are that this is how it started.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Richard Harris could tell us what a bad idea shooting one turned out to be. Apparently not enough people have seen Orca, because that shit was scary.

2nd amendment rights for orcas. Strap some 50cal machine guns, waterproofed, to their heads Dr Evil style.

[–] DokPsy@infosec.pub 9 points 11 months ago

I'm not one to actively encourage increases in military spending but if it's to outfit the orcas, I'm all for it

I'm more worried orcas will start shooting us.

I couldn't blame any ocean dwelling creature that took justice into their own hands (or fins) at this point.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

They should be safe. Richard Harris has been dead for a while.

[–] pan_troglodytes@programming.dev 40 points 11 months ago (1 children)

boat not designed to moshpit with whales....

[–] EmoBean@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

We need to design one, moshing with orcas sounds metal as fuck

[–] REdOG@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago

Who can Metallica sue for this?

[–] Deceptichum@kbin.social 23 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In retrospect, they may not have appreciated the thematics of Blood and Thunder.

[–] tbird83ii@kbin.social 16 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Gojira would have been a much better option...

[–] jimmux@programming.dev 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I knew exactly what I was getting into here and you didn’t disappoint. Damn I miss their show.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

If you haven't seen it, "If The Emperor had a Text to Speech" very much reminded me of the irreverent tone of Metalopalypse

[–] Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc 15 points 11 months ago

Of course not, do they not play Doom? It makes orcas 100% more metal.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

Headbanging music backfires on sail powered mosh pit.

Film at 11.

PS: ... keep the whales at bay? I sea what you did, marine biopunologist.

This could make a great Metalocalypse episode.

[–] dirtypirate@kbin.social 10 points 11 months ago

Mandatory Orca Mosh Pit is my new punk band name

[–] Gekoloniseerd@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Are there any videos of this happening? Any videos at all?

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Is one of reasons that orcas love to mosh?

[–] Additional_Prune@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (3 children)

There's whole lot of genres of music to shuffle through before we may find the genre that drives away orcas. Maybe there's no genre of music that drives away orcas. You know how people say of ethnic groups they don't belong to that y'all look alike to us? Maybe all human music sounds alike to orcas.

[–] Raine_Wolf@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago (3 children)

We should try polka. Nobody wants to listen to polka.

[–] SheDiceToday@eslemmy.es 4 points 11 months ago

You'd be surprised at some of the sleeper hits. It's inherent in all genres that one composition will just blow your mind.

...or maybe I just like polka and avoid the weird looks by only having one song on the ipod. Maybe.

Dubstep might do it.

[–] BustinJiber@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Let's try EDM. Two sounds pulsating and occasionally woman's voice saying "orca" will bore anyone to death.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Get this Winger shit outta here.
