Can only pick players at their current state. For example say if you are picking cp3, you are picking a 38 year old cp3, etc...

Clippers have popovich as their coach, you can pick any current coach other than him. Assume the clippers roster have played a lot of games together. Same thing for your team.

My y league team sweeps em... Why? Prime Kwai is injured, pg is probable, harden is at the strip club demanding to be traded and Westbrook goes 9/37 from the floor but get the triple dub in the loss

Assuming healthy? Haliburton, OG, Dillon Brooks, Giannis, Robert Williams is the best I could think of just based on defense. There's still a really high chance they lose to prime Kawhi, PG, Harden, and Russ though.
