2 first round pick or GTFO. It’s not financially feasible for us to just trade him for anything less than a bounty and having Davante is a huge asset for our young QB, whether that’s Aidan or a drafted rookie.
They would have to send the Raiders over like $40 million on top of a haul of draft picks/young players for this to even be considered. If the Raiders trade Adams they take a huge dead cap hit for him. No way the Raiders are going to take the dead cap number and only get like a 2nd rounder. I’m dumbfounded that this narrative keeps getting put out there. HE’S NOT GETTING TRADED
Eh they're just trying to give Jet fan some hope.
I bet they’ll keep Zach Wilson too and if something happens that they need to turn to him again they’ll say “how could this have happened.”
Cuz lack of weapons is why the jets suck right? I swear they're TRYING to lose if they do this without addressing the o line first.
In fairness their oline has been ravaged by injuries….they haven’t had the same oline play back to back games since week 4….the only starters out there are Becton and Tomlinson and in some cases they have been down to 3rd string or PS players
Easier to ignore facts when it’s about the Jets
Since week 4? Was the online not allowing tons of pressure before this?
Yeah I’ve seen the article…I guess I’m relying on the eye test after watching every game…I think the context of this being Rodgers offense and not using a lot motion so he can make his own presnap adjustment has something to do w those numbers…also I can say w 100% certainty that losing AVT in back to back years has been a crusher for the Oline and his presence greatly influences the overall result more than any other player on that line
Their receivers after Wilson are incredibly unimpressive.
…that said, Allen Lazard will now cook the Bills for 140 and 2 TDs.
I don’t remember the last game we scored a TD lol. 2 would be like a 1000% increase.
True, but that's partly because they decided to bring in Allen Lazard and the corpse of Randall Cobb to appease Rodgers rather than actually try and get adequate backups.
I think they should bolster the on-line and find a complimentary #2 to Garrett Wilson than overpay for a 32 year old Davante.
Cobb was supposed to be the #5 WR, but Davis randomly retired and Hardman was terrible.
That's what they need. That's the position they need to upgrade. Sure.
Outside of Garrett Wilson, the Jets WR room isn't good. Now I don't know if they need to make a big splash for Adams, but they definitely need a second WR.
Dude right?? Give Garrett Wilson an NFL-caliber QB with decent protection and I truly think he’s putting up Justin Jefferson/Jamar Chase/AJ Brown numbers.
it sucks that this franchise is so starved for success that we'll chalk up this catastrophe of a season as a mulligan and try again with an older, injured rodgers, a coaching staff that doesn't work at all, and a roster that looks worse offensively than just about everyone else.
the hope was that we were a quarterback away, but it's clear that that means "hall of fame quarterback playing at an mvp level" if we want to do anything besides being the worst offense in the league
that kool aid didnt work too hot did it?
relax dude, jets will be fine lol. coming from a pats fan.
Imagine Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have a smooth recovery and Devante goes from the Raiders to Zach Wilson. I don’t know why people assume Rodgers will be fine. He’s been hurt a significant part of the season the past several years.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but if the Jets give up much, seems like it might be something that could go wrong fast. Davante will be 32 next year. The fall off for elite WRs tends to be sudden and steep. The OL will be bad and Rodgers will be 41 coming off a torn Achilles. Feels like this year was their year, it got sunk, and now they’re chasing with dumb money.
I mean Davante can very much be a Larry Fitzgerald type and play way into his 30s just on his football IQ and athleticism.
seems like it might be something that could go wrong fast
Of course it can go wrong. Three Adams, Cobb, Lazard = retirement home of old packer WRs
Unpopular opinion. Trading for Rodgers was stupid to begin with. It gave them an incredibly small window and they have a lot of offensive issues. Trading for Adams is going to be yet another 1 player away move. It's just doubling down on the Rodgers decision. I think this was clearly the year if it was going to work.
I agree. Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall look like they could be stars. Fix the oline and get a real #2 receiver who isn't just some guy Rodgers played with before.
I have no idea how they make the draft capital work to grab him and at least 2 o linemen, but I love this. GW17 needs someone else out there who can catch a ball and make a play.
lmao
Who is going to wear 17?
When you have the chance to exactly replicate the championship run of the 2014-2021 Packers except much older and slower, you absolutely have to do it
Why even have a GM at this point, why not just admit publicly that Aaron Rodgers is running your team? I get that the WR's they have after Wilson aren't great, but the O line is also terrible, maybe focus on that with your really old QB coming off a torn Achilles.
I know they want to load up for one last chance, but I think this is just one step too far
Huge contract, getting old for a receiver, and gonna cost a big draft pick. They are going to lose our on signing some of their core guys or be in cap hell with no QB in a year, and no assets to recover.
they have nothing to lose. “core guys” dont matter without an elite qb/wr
maybe I'm crazy but I feel like this move would make perfect sense. the team needs to go all-in the next year or two while Rodgers is still playing. and if he does retire soon then having a great wr corps is exactly what we'd need for whatever rookie qb we bring in to replace him. this is exactly what we need
He will be 32 in 2024 and fit in nicely with Cobb and Lazard. :-O
Is this being pushed by the owner, Woody Johnson.
Aaron Rodgers?
The GM?
The GM has been there 5 years. Bad online (AVT is good, maybe Tippman too?), one WR (Garret Wilson), no QB.
His contract is too big of a hit for us to lose him so Jets would have to make it worthwhile. Thinking you're getting him without a first rounder is peak delusion.
Need to pursue an offensive line
learn to take no for an answer >:(
Would it be in Davante's best interests to do it?
Isn't part of the reason he left Green Bay the uncertainty of how long Rodgers was going to keep on playing there? Isn't that basically the same situation with the Jets plus Rodgers coming back from a very serious injury?
But he also went to the Raiders to play with his buddy Derek Carr and that didn't last too long.
Isn't part of the reason he left Green Bay the uncertainty of how long Rodgers was going to keep on playing there?
That was probably 25% the case, 25% of it was the front office waffling around paying him fair value for like a full year and then 50% playing with Carr.
I don't think Adams cares about long term at this point.
You forgot about his family living closer to Vegas too.
The Packers offered Adams more than the Raiders.
Would it be in Davante's best interests to do it?
I vote yes. I'm not biased.
Adams is Tier 1 no question, but it should be mentioned that the upcoming WR is absolutely stacked and it’d probably be in the Jetes best interest to look at a R2 or R3 wideout and address the trenches first.
If you lost to the Raiders, one player ain’t gonna fix your problems.
This was 100% why Rodgers took less money coming to NY. If he was healthy, the Jets would have been much more aggressive trying to get him and the trade deadline.
Raiders please destroy the Dolphins today. Then maybe lose a bunch so Adams requests another trade?
