I was curious just how Chet’s been this year and went to Basketball Reference to see where he ranked among all players in a few advanced stats.

These were the results:

11th Win Shares, 16th Win Shares Per 48, 26th PER, 20th Box Plus Minus and 17th in VORP.

What other advanced stats are out there that people value and what do those show? Is it possible he’s already a top 30 player?

He's been fantastic so far.

Now, for me personally - and I know this is controversial, so please forgive the burns from this #HotTake - I would like to see players at least make it to December during their first season playing in the league before I anoint them one of the best players in the league or start to sculpt their HOF bust.

he is five good

Seems like he's pretty good. Taking the Embiid route. Maybe there's something strategically smart to sitting your lotto pick their rookie year, putting them into a hyperbolic skills-training & strength-training chamber, and having them come out animals on the other end.

Chet's career trajectory has a high variance, but the high end is for sure being an MVP candidate.

Hes good , dog

He was the 2nd pick in 2022 & he missed the season but got to train & gain exp with NBA players (like Ben simmons). So he's more ready than this year rookies

I think so far he's meeting the expectations if not more, its just that he's getting overshadowed by the Wemby hype train

The Ben Simmons/Blake Griffin rookie season special.

He was the 2nd pick in the draft, OP.

not as good as his brother Chet Holmgren but he’s alright

He is so important on both ends. If he keeps this up top 40 at the very least.

It’s early but it is quite possible he’s already a top 40 player in the league and possibly higher based on some advanced metrics.

Metrics are shit when using on a rookie. Chet’s good. But he’s by far the 2nd best player on his team.

you were just curious? does it have anything to do with his much discussed breakout game last night where he hit an insane game tying shot to send to OT? lol

What an incredible coincidence!!!

No it's not. He's currently better than Wemby. Wemby has one of the highest ceilings in NBA history but he doesn't understand how to play basketball yet and that's ok.

Chet has grown in the NBA sitting out all last year and it's a given him a huge advantage. He's impacting game at a high level right now on both ends.

[–] Clemsontigger16@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

All Chet has to do is sit back and let his all NBA point guard and much more talented teammates set everything up for him on a silver platter, so he can take whatever wide open looks he gets. If Wemby was in that position he would be doing even better than Chet and Chet would not be able to do what Wemby has had to do in San Antonio.

The only thing Chet has going for him over Wemby is efficiency and that’s 100% due to their difference in roles and the competency of teammates. You swap them and the Spurs get worse and the Thunder get better

Only been like 12 games but by his trajectory should be a top 15 player in a few years. Makes it easier to be good when you have a top 10 guy leading and good wings in general. All the great bigs had an elite wing or really good wing combinations and he came in to a team with that.

At basketball?

[–] LogenMNE@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

ROY by a significant margin. Whoever says otherwise doesn't have a clue about basketball. Potential and talent is one thing, but Chet is playing like a 10 year efficient vet and a top 30 player in the league.
