A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Hey everyone, I just started on boudoir photography, that means I don’t have bookings yet, all I do is colabs for now, however I’ve been struggling with the initial contact with the models. I have a text when I tell them who I am, how long I’ve been a photographer and what I want and why, but I get almost no replies at all and it’s frustrating as I don’t know any other way to make my business grow as well as my skills. How do you guys do it or did it when you started? Thanks for reading

TFP- Time (their modeling time) For Prints (Digital Edited files with usage rights)

If you're serious, I can give you some tips. If you're interested in booking clients, discretion is MANDATORY. Hire some more mature (think 30's and 40's) professional models who have the skills to convey your message/branding/style in order to build a portfolio of work. Marketing? Relationship sites, catering to the 30's + crowd. Up your retouching game or be prepared to build a relationship with a professional who can provide your style and quality on a consistent basis.

As a fellow boudoir photographer, I can definitely relate to your struggle in reaching out to models. When I first started, I found that personalizing my initial contact message and highlighting what makes my photography unique really helped to grab their attention. Remember, persistence is key and don't get discouraged by the lack of replies. Keep refining your approach and showcasing your passion for the craft. Good luck!
