Yes, they are amazing

[–] xmetaltroll@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

i love them, I drive them daily to play my guitar, and game on them

[–] Thekabablord@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

That that kinda price? Hell yeah. At most you can just sell it on the used market for how much you bought it for or trade it with someone.

[–] Many-Candidate6973@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Not if you are buying them only because they are 60 off they are only worth the sale price in my opinion

[–] xXRyuuGinXx@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Imagine getting downvoted for a personal opinion.

These people here are tripping man.

[–] aleetszns@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (5 children)

How do these compare to the 560s?

[–] SchwizzelKick66@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

560s are definitively better. They belong more to the 6 series than the 5 series.

However for this price, these are a crazy deal.

[–] mister_damage@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Similar IIRC, bit more refined. They are in the same family so any improvement will be refinements in my opinion.

[–] minuscatenary@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

More bass. Noticeably more bass. Better for movies if you like that Michael Bay rumble. 560 S is better for everything else.

This one is 39 more but it's missing the S

[–] raymate@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

560 are a good step up. But nothing wrong with 599 I like mine.

[–] Midget-Cow@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

These are phenomenal for PC gaming. I have been using them for years.

Especially great for fps/souls genres.

Personally just bought another pair with the sales as a third backup.

[–] Regular-Cheetah-8095@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

One of the better headphone deals out there when they’re on sale. Very underrated pair.

[–] TheRealBudman@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Listening to Wildflowers on them right now. Love them for the $ and at $84 that is amazing. I’m mainly a speaker guy but sometimes I can’t crank my system the way I like or sit in my “spot” so these headphones fill that void. FYI If you are a fan of Bass you will not like them and they will show any weak areas in your system…. DAC, streaming quality etc……

[–] OnlyAnEssenceThief@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Where are you seeing that deal? I'm looking for it but can't find anything.

[–] horizo3902@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I've been using these for a few months now, and I can say that they're really good, for music and gaming too. They're also very comfortable, I can wear them for hours on end.

[–] sux138@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

fantastic gear

[–] noneedtoprogram@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I think they are fairly regularly sub £100, but I think this is still about the lowest they come down to, and they are great comfy headphones. I'd certainly buy them at the current price (I paid £95? earlier in the year and still consider that a decent buy).

[–] flipper_gv@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I have an old ass pair of 598. Amazing general listening pair for videos/series/movies/gaming/etc...

If you don't already have an open back pair it's a great step into that world. Really good soundstage for the price.

Pros: long wearing comfort, excellent mids and highs, good detail, easy to drive with typical headphone jacks.

Cons: bass performance is so-so and lacks authority, but that doesn’t make them sound cheap. The included cable is not that great but easily swapped out.

At $85 these are a no-brainer.

I own a lot of headphones that are way pricier but I still use my 599hd way more and they’re my dd. Best comfort of any headphone

[–] QWERTYtheASDF@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Definitely a take at that price. When I had to send back my HFM Ananda (my daily go-to) for warranty repair, I found myself reaching for my old trusty HD 598 over any of my other cans to fill the gap during repair. I paid $199 for those back then in 2012.

[–] Vireca@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Go for it. I bought it a few years ago at they are so good. Comfy, lightweight, great sound. No need for anything extra. Plug and play

[–] raymate@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

For that price yes. They are pretty good casual listening

[–] Anarchy111111@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

They look like a good deal, and I've heard that although their price is much lower compared to newer Sennheiser headphones, they have their place as originals. Pretty consistent, and reminding people of older headphone ages (the only thing is that the cream coloured variants look very pleasing to more people), they have a pretty warm profile and a great soundstage for their price. I would say it's a great deal!

[–] kadeve@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Not %60 that's a lie but they are my daily driversand I enjoy them a lot for my long gaming sessions

[–] Cam_e_ron@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

They are a nice set, they sound pretty neutral, not lots of bass but good detail for gaming and casual listening. I got mine on sale as well, makes a nice travel set very lightweight and comfortable.

[–] remeberthegoodtimes@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (15 children)

Not the deal you think. They usually cost around 100 euros. They jacked the price to 199 on September 28th, just so they could have this make-believe discount on Black Friday. You should definitely use Keppa to see the price history and don’t impulse buy. For reference, they were selling at 89.99 between August 29 and September 7. Between 27-29 of March they were 79.99.

super comfortable and sounds great. Cable is detachable. Purchase without fear.

[–] persondude27@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's one of the highest bang-for-bucks in all of audio.

I gave these as a gift to a friend who didn't have nice headphones; she said "it changed my world".

They're driven just fine with computer onboard, though obviously will sound better with a DAC/AMP. They come with two 3.5mm headphone cables (1m and 3m, or similar) - too short and too long. :)

For people in the US, they are $100 pretty regularly: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-599-SE-Headphone/dp/B07RFNZYJZ/

Yes they are the labrador of headphones. Super likeable sound and so comfy.

[–] DuffelBagCollector@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I got the HD560s for 110€

If the price is still around that ballpark and you’re ok with spending a bit more, they’re far better. The 599 were my first headphones and I liked them a lot but I still replaced them with the 560s after 4/5 months

[–] crappy-pete@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

In Australia its more like $125 AUD vs $275...

Still worth it or nah?

[–] Born4One@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Good deal. I have them in white and gave them to my wife for her setup.

[–] judgenut@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

No. Buy a pair you want and will like. The price is secondary

[–] kerotta@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

i bought a pair on a similar discount. found them uncomfortable and lacking in a full feeling sound. actually went back to my ksc75s

[–] voteforrice@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

For that price absolutely. Hard to get a decent open back that beats the ksc 75 for under a $100.

[–] HORAGI@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I like mine

[–] Oliver1755@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes. These are excellent starter headphones. I bought them about a year ago and they are a dream for a budget guy who isn't interested in "the hobby" and just wants to listen to music on not cheapo head Phones

[–] jasonsc95@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago
[–] trojan_asante@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

No! buy them directly from Sennheiser Outlet for cheaper.I have purchased 6 different models so far.All come brand new.Sennheiser HD599 SE

[–] Masungit@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

No brainer mate

[–] AciVici@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I bought them in a heart beat when they were 92 bucks and it was THE BEST 92 bucks I spent. For that price I think there is nothing that can surpass those. Definetly go for them.

They're literally the most comfortable headphones you can buy regardless of the price.

Soundstage and imaging are quite decent. I use them for gaming a lot and they're incredible (I use dolby atmos and creative sxfi while gaming and they help a lot).

Bass can feel a bit reccesed for some but nothing eq can't fix. Definetly go for them.

[–] rener24@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Nah, not worth it considering the HD560S exists

Some of the comfiest headphones ever, and they are really great for games and music. I haven't wore a pair more comfy than 599s to date, the velour pads are great and there is no clamp, it's a good padded headband. Great for positional audio, in a FPS game you can pick out footsteps for example really well cause the soundstage is good. On the other hand, the 6XX's are very good for music but not as much for games because the soundstage doesn't seem as spacious.

Plus 599s are 50 ohm so you can drive them with ease without an amp.

[–] Dead_Architect@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

2HXR are currently about the same price.

[–] SukoKing@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

My only complaint is that it’s quite uncomfortable because of how they’ve done the headband.

[–] Tedsville@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Really nice cans for the price. If you currently have lesser headphones and are looking to get in to the hobby, buy them. I bought these for a friend of mine last Christmas and he said they blew him away.
