There's a site that lists lots of photo competitions: https://www.forphotographersonly.com Only thing is you have to pay $5 a month which I'm a little reluctant to do... Anyone know of anywhere similar without a money subscription?

have you checked out photocontestinsider.com? they have a comprehensive list of photo competitions without any subscription fees!

Not worth it. You also don't gain much from random, unknown competitions anyway. Just a badge to slap on your website of a competition nobody has ever heard about.

Competitions I don't recommend when I teach my class about this stuff. They are usually a rights grab at a minimum. Consider submitting images for juried exhibitions. You make better connections that way.
