I have no idea why when it comes to cars, the phrase "Road Rage" is used instead of attempted murder.

Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Or at the very least assault with a deadly weapon.
Lobbyists.
Eventually shooting someone will be "abuse of a firearm". Might be able to get assault w/ deadly weapons by pistol-whipping. You want the lesser charge of firearm abuse, you gotta pull the trigger.
Road rage is why they did it, attempted murder is the crime.
It's a real phenomenon when talking about incidents involving two vehicles because you unconsciously dehumanize the person in the vehicle since you're not directly engaging with them, but their machine, and can't really see the person in it.
Same principle applies on the internet where people aren't seeing a person when they are verbally abusing someone online, which makes it much easier to ignore the empathic part of our brain. At least that's what I heard on the radio.
That being said, this one involves a cyclist so I'd just call it attempted murder too.
I can't wait until that driver is found. May justice be served and this person destroyed for attempted murder. Never let them free.
WTH is wrong with some humans.
I'm so glad the cyclist survived. 💜
iS ThE CaR oK?! Red two door vehicle possibly a dodge challenger...wow really putting in the effort to help get them caught it is a challenger I'm from Europe and even I can tell that. Also the plate is there maybe get the actual footage and not use some rando potato upload. This was attempted murder and so tired of seeing the dehumanisation of cyclists. Even here if you want to kill someone do it in a car.
I still feel guilty for bumping a taxi/van making a right turn looking left after I thought they made the turn. Nothing came of it after we exchanged info. I never would do it on purpose though. Why did they do it on purpose?
I felt like shit for bumping a guy's car at 5kmh because it snowed (not common here, so I was on summer tires) and I slipped while braking. He must have noticed it in my face because he cheered me up when he saw that the bumper didn't even have a mark
Can't believe some people would run into a cyclist head on on purpose and live with themselves after, dude's gotta have some anti social disorder
When the light turned green, and the red car didn't move, Lori said her son tapped the bumper to get the driver's attention. The driver didn't like that.
All things else aside; That is an excellent way to start a road rage incident. It's not a wise decision to hit someone's car to get their attention. Here in the US, from grade-school on, we're taught to protect possessions with deadly force.
.
satire
It's not a wise decision to hit someone's car to get their attention.
I assume he was on a bicycle in the earlier incident as well, not in a car.
With a car, sure. You tap your horn. You don't bump the car that is oblivious to the light change.
But the guy probably doesn't have a horn on his bike, isn't required to have one, and tapping the bumper with your hand is not going to hurt the car in question.
There are things that bicyclists do that very much annoy me, like blowing through red lights, riding the wrong way on the road, and riding with no lights at night. Tapping my bumper isn't one.
Tapping a bumper made someone tried to murder you? Nah dude, something is seriously fucking unhinged with many Americans and it needs to be called out way more. So many are so eager and trigger happy after one small interaction. Why is it ok to go insane after someone taps your car?
And it's disgusting that we believe it's justified to protect possessions with deadly force. Shit can be replaced a persons life cannot.
Here in the US, from grade-school on, we’re taught to protect possessions with deadly force.
Don't know where you grew up, but sure as fuck not where I grew up.
Spoiler had more info.
Tbh, if I were the cyclist, I would have used deadly force on the rager. I carry when I ride.
