Bought the Sennheiser HD560S after much deliberation. I considered the HD6xx, HD600, HD58x and settled on the HD560S.

Many people have said the bass is lacking in the whole 600 series except the HD660S2. I just unboxed these phones and plugged them into my FiiO Q11 connected to my PC streaming UltraHD quality - PC audio settings set to 32 bit/192KHz Amazon Music without any EQ'ing and find their sound, so far, to be quite satisfying overall. The bass isn't extended like on Bluetooth headsets, but it's not really lacking.

Currently listening to some Jazz, but they sound good with Electronic/ambient, 90s Rock

My appreciation to everyone on here who recommended these. They sound really, really good.

I use the following EQ for the hd560s on my qudelix 5k:

Sorry I couldn't format it better. If you are on pc just press enter before every Filter.

That's a really good EQ setting. Really impressed with it.

Who told you the 660s2 has bass lol

[–] RB181@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's got more bass than the other HD 6-- series headphones and a comparable amount to the HD 560S, based on my own testing. If you're coming from something like an Audeze or Fostex planar, it will feel bass-light, but it's one of the best bass I've heard in a dynamic driver open-back headphone.

That's dissapointing to hear. Heard around here that 660S2 has visceral, deep bass that will knock your socks off. HD560s kind of bass or just slightly above it is nowhere near knocking any socks off.

Thanks for the report.

Is that compared to an EQ'd 560s or stock?

560s are amazing for the price but 650 are the masters. That’s why I own both

Now add eq and you will be in heaven

Mmm yeah I'm still not really sold on them. Their bass is definitely not bad by any means, it's nice and clear. On the other hand I really like the bass on the 58x, even though it's not as linear. The lack of midbass punch on the 560 is sometimes nice, other times it leaves me unfulfilled a bit. I think I probably prefer the 58x in terms of tonal balance, but I do really like the bigger soundstage on the 560s. The 560s also has a sort of unreal smooth clarity in the mids and treble that the 58x doesn't quite match.

Yeah, now that I know the bass is fine on these open back Sennheiser headphones, I'm excited to consider higher versions. The HD600 gets a lot of praise

These HD560S are merely my first foray into open back Sennheiser headphones.

You might be disappointed in the higher versions. I own the HD560S, HD58X, HD600 and HD660S2 and tried the HD650 and HD660S at a store. I'd take the 560S over any of the others except the 660S2, which cost 4 times the price but are not 4 times better to me.

The HD560S measures better than the HD800S and can do 8 ~ 10db bass without choking.
