I've moved to a new state & small ish but wildly popular tourist town for outdoor adventures. I had a job my first 2 months so I had paystubs to get here but got laid off last week (thank god).

What business would you start in a small town? I come from a advertising & graphic design background.

I've had several small businesses in the past which I have left or sold for various reasons. I've reached the point of being unemployable and am tinkering with the next chapter of life.

Mowing lawns probably your best ROI honestly

If I was younger and wanted to hustle I’d totally do lawn mowing, waves, power wash, and use an inexpensive and thankless lost leader like $8 leaf bag fills on Facebook to get in front of people, who then buy all the other services from you.

When I was 15 I used to make $1000 on a Saturday and that is 26 years ago.

I'd start an art studio with tattoo artists and have ppl compete in a way, like building a team and go win tournaments. That'd be nice

I personally would do one of 2 things

  1. sticky product - high recurring use digital products to flip in a community

  2. sticky service - monthly retainer based service in the b2b space with a large value discrepancy - customer acquisition/design/financial

Party rentals/power tool rentals

I'd probably start a small town/small business advertising + graphic design agency.

Can you provide rentals for any of these outdoor activities? (Bikes? Kayaks? Paddleboards?)

Or if it's a big tourist area, are there tons of AirBnBs that you could provide rentals for? Roll-away beds, baby cribs, strollers?

Market research whether the outdoor adventure sector needs advertising and graphic design support.

I would simply invest that money into a couple of small businesses and generate cash flow but each their own..
