I have started to acquire parts for my home lab and would like it to be rack mounted. I would like it to have a 6U rack, 19", and it to be black. Not only that, but I would lie to spend a maximum of £60. If anyone has any good recommendations, I would love to hear them.

eBay sellers offer rack rails in U sizes. I have screwed these to painted wood for small racks. If the equipment is build for rack mounting. There are rack shelves. Wood and rails are less than $US 40.

Can it be cut down? My wood rack aesthetics is starting to get to me. Only need 12U max

No this is a fully enclosed metal server rack on wheels. Cutting it apart would ruin it.

I personally use this for my servers. These end tables just so happen to perfectly fit rack mounted servers. I stack two of them. They're called "lack racks." Here's a pic but you can find more online as well:
