Mazzulla treats opposing teams' runs as some personal affront or a result of lack of focus, and chooses to punish his team with a "I'm not bailing you out" attitude. But sometimes the other team gets hot. Sometimes players need to refocus. It's stupid macho bullshit and just abdicates his responsibility as a coach.
Like even Pop used to call timeouts for the Duncan/Parker/Ginobli teams to regroup. What are we really doing here?

People who are blaming this on the players and not Mazzula—the players are rattled and Joe is doing nothing to intervene and settle them down. He is the only coach in the league under this delusion that players can just settle themselves down. Every single other coach will see a run and stop it, help everyone take a beat.
I was surprised they kept him after last year - his coaching in the Miami games was super suspect and it seemed like he had lost control of the players - if he ever had it at all. I thought maybe it was just because he looked opposite of Spo who is one of the greatest of all time but I’m seeing him make these same mistakes against us.
The thing is the players are good enough to bail him out a lot of the times, but they are never going to win a championship if he keeps doing this .
The players always say they’re leaders and brag about it.
Then play with 0 effort out of the half so yeah it is there fault
