A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Yup, I get multiple of these a week. It’s a scam.

[–] cindy224@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

all the time, welcome to instagram

As a general rule since facebook, I don't add people unless I've met them in person, first.

This reminds me that I need to go clear out my hidden requests again.

Not always.. I humored these people once. They sent me some kind of beaded bracelets meant for couples. In turn I was supposed to send them pics of us wearing them. I got the bracelets and never sent them anything. So it might be real but it’s just them spamming to spread their brand.

This is what I thought first, but I tend to trust people for no reason.

I tend to trust people for no reason.

I hope you wise up quickly then!

I tend to trust people for no reason.

What? Why? Stop doing that

[–] tubbana@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sounds like you scammed them?

[–] k1ller_speret@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

how much did they charge for shipping though. They probally made money off you if you paid more than $5

[–] worlds_okayest_user@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, when their account has nothing related to sunglasses, and all their posts are stock images of different women facing away from the camera. They're just harvesting personal info. Probably good idea to block them.

biggest one is the ones that promise to send you shit but just pay the shipping fee. The product probally cost them cents and is usualy junk but they will charge you 2-30$

[–] TheBishDog@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Huge scam. You’ll get 5 of these in the next 3-4 weeks

[–] hey_you_too_buckaroo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah I get em too. I don't think it's a scam necessarily, sometimes they're just doing marketing. Of course the moment you have to pay anything, it's a scam.

Let me help here;

Hi! Love your IG!

How would you like to be your own boss?

[–] Remytron83@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Very common. Very annoying.

[–] lycosa13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Are you new to Instagram?

[–] DarkWhiteSoul@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sounds like a bunch of malarkey.

[–] Valuable-Rip-889@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have about 10 of these in my requests right now. Always low follower/ing count or obviously botted followers.
