After a really long hiatus from headphones, I couldn't resist getting the 58x. I used to have the HD 800S and the DT1770 but sold it 4 years ago.

My taste have shifted to warmer and mellower signature. So this was perfect. It also has sub bass unlike the 6xx.

I wanted to go back to the hobby years ago, but it got pushed back due to other priorities. Now I'm back to the rabbit hole i guess lol.

Anyway, i'm thinking of running these with the new JDS amp or maybe a tube amp (suggestions are welcome).

JDS will work it is just a bit clinical. Monoprice Liquid Spark pairs best with it as well as IFi Zen Air Can. Forget tube amps I’ve tested them with this pair and it isn’t good unless the volume is kept loud (they reveal too much vacuum noise). The 58’s are exceptional and a steal at that price.

Rule 2: Ask purchase and shopping questions in the Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk

Requests for product opinions, comparisons, and general purchase advice must be made in the dedicated Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk instead of a new post.

Portable audio related purchase advice may also be asked in r/HeadphoneAdvice but please familiarize yourself with their rules first.

What questions are considered purchase advice?

  • A request for product suggestions, comparison requests, or opinion requests fall under the purchase advice rule. These can often be found by searching first.

  • Any suggestion or comparison request pertaining to headphones, IEMs, DACs, amps, or other accessories should be directed to the purchase help thread or r/headphoneadvice.

  • Asking the subreddit to help make a decision to buy a product does fall under this rule (e.g. "should I get dekoni pads for my HD650?").

Why does this rule even exist?

How do these compare to the 599

Just ordered from one from Drop, new for 130 Eur incl. shipping to Germany from the US. Just gave my HD560s to my brother as a starting point (he’s been using HyperX for gaming, and decided to pull him into the rabbit hole lol).

Did you compare them to the 560s? I already had the 560s and don't want something else too similar.

I sold them awhile back after moving to something else but I want to get them again. IMO they’re probably the most fun Sennheisers in comparison to the 600 or 6XX, the bass on the 58x makes it sound great with a wide range of music

Right? I like it for that reason too. Unlike other precise but less fun cans that only specialize in certain genres.

I adore the 58X. Easily my favorite of the 600s.

They're such an easy headphone to live with. Super light and comfy, easy to drive, lots of fun.

I think out of all the headphones I've owned, I held onto my 58X the longest. Great headphone for the money, just a good all rounder.
