Weird how SGA's game is the exact same as last year, yet his foul calls plummeted
There’s less people packed in the paint to foul him when playing OKC because their perimeter shooters have improved
It def is a little of that, but he's also night to night just not getting the same whistle. Is what it is, and should even out a bit over the season.
He's getting fouled on almost every drive, they just straight up aren't calling them

Dude could average 35 a night on high efficiency with the middy/drive game. In this day and age that’s wild to see. SGA averages more drives per game than anyone in the last 10+ years by far

Refs obviously trained their "anti-flop" measures on some of the big offenders from last year. Its obvious if you watched him last year vs now that the same exact drives that make contact are now no-calls

Drives per game isn't a good stat to determine this sort of thing. They always come up but drives aren't very high up on the list of plays likely to lead to FTs.
The highest are things like put-backs, lobs, post-ups, and dunks (you're standing under the basket and someone passes to you). So yeah big physical players/teams tend to be higher in these and get more FTs despite not driving as much.

Cam’s sample size is much smaller bc he got injured but he’s genuinely an insane talent at getting to the line. Did it last year too.

What's strange is, people call out and think of LeBron as some flopping foul merchant, but instead his free throw rate shows that he needs to flop more, since refs are blind. Teams challenge refs to call a foul, instead of trying to defend legally.
That’s what winning an mvp does to someone. Embiid has always been a flopper but this season is at a new level and he’s getting every flop

I wonder what Harden's stats were. Google searches show prime Harden drawing 11.5% on his 3 PA in 2019, but don't show his total drawn foul % on drives.
Watch the games. If the opponent didn’t throw three bodies on him every time he touches the ball in the paint, he would be hitting on 80+% of those shots. It’s the only way to prevent giving him a free layup every time down the court

Embiid gets fouls on entry passes lol. Giannis gets them mostly on drives. They both draw a similarly insane amount of fouls. Surely an eastern conference fan is aware of this.
