This isn’t even close. I don’t get this. What are we doing.

[–] musing_wanderer3@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

“Not even close” is a bit of an exaggeration. Do you not consider Booker to be the best SG in the game? (Tbh I think the only competition he has for best SG is Mitchell)

[–] TruthSayerFu@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Yeah I think booker and Mitchell are the best but they aren’t close to Luka

[–] 11x_dev@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

how many finals luka been to

Is it? Luka can't even stay in shape

[–] archerarcher0@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Luka with a dad bod drinking a 6 pack after every game still gives you 30/9/9 a night, booker in peak athletic condition doesn’t touch that

Think about that

[–] Batmans-penis@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Who's better, Booker or Jokic? Let's not play the "physique" card here.

[–] driatic@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

It's a dumb question with an obvious answer.

Their games aren't even similar.

[–] Charliebitme1234@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

suns are 2-0 against the clippers in the playoffs, mavs are 0-2, i dont trust a player who cant beat my trash ahh team

[–] AntsOutMyTrousers@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

genius logic

[–] marion_and_beau@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (4 children)

Come on bro lol. Booker doesn’t even remotely compare to Luka.

[–] honestnbafan@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Idk Luka is probably like the 4th or 5th best player in the league and Booker is probably 8th or 9th best

It's still Luka overall yes but I do think that this comment section is somewhat overestimating the gap

[–] Halfonion@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

IMO there is a pretty big jump from the mvp tier of Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Steph, KD, and Luka to the next tier of players (Shai, book, Tatum, bron, ant, Khawi ETC). Even though Booker is as you said generally only 4-6 players behind Luka in most rankings, the gap feels wider when it comes to ability/impact on the court.

[–] musing_wanderer3@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

For real…I believe Luka is better but some people here have literally no respect for what Booker is and what he’s done…

[–] Schmoova@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I think Luka is better, and more importantly he’s younger, so he’s the obvious answer to this question. But if we’re just talking right now, saying they don’t “remotely compare” is stupid.

I’d argue that Booker is easier to build around because he could fit into every team in the league. He’s a better defender than Luka and he’s a FAR better off-ball player than Luka.

(Again, yes I agree Luka is better but they’re absolutely “comparable”, they’re both top 10 players)

[–] musing_wanderer3@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ok - not “remotely compare” is a bit harsh on Booker…wasn’t Booker 36PPG at 70% TS in the playoffs last year? Luka’s playoff runs are legendary but Booker has shined as well

[–] amr1115@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

booker this season is averaging 30/9 on 65%ts. while luka is averaging 30/8 on 61%ts. small sample size but so far booker is having a better season. and he just had a playoff run where he averaged 34 on 70%ts lmao. yea lukas better but it’s not this huge gap ur making it out to be. luka is also like a top 5 worst defender in the league. and while booker isnt an insane defender, he’s still a clear positive on defense and has gotten better at it each year. booker is a much better fit to most teams too, he can play off ball, much better catch and shoot played, can push in transition and disrupt the game if he locks in defensively. the mavs offense has devolved into a slow luka pnr on literally every play, which boosts up lukas box score numbers more than what his impact actually is

[–] ajteitel@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (4 children)

Starting a team from scratch, Luka obviously come on.

But if you already got a team and need someone to join, Booker is the choice. Not many superstars are plug and play. See the 2020 (2021) Olympics when Booker turned into a off-ball role player. Ironically KD is the premier example for plug and play.

[–] ajteitel@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Also read something interesting. There are two players in the top 7 in both scoring and assists. Luka and Booker.

[–] musing_wanderer3@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I genuinely believe Luka and Booker are going to parallel Lebron and KD. Not in terms of achievements clearly, but in terms of their play styles, it’s the closest. Booker has got to the best pure scorer of this new generation while Luka has more of an ability to do a bit of everything

People genuinely think there’s an enormous gap between the two. There isn’t (and that is coming from someone who thinks Luka is better)

[–] SuckaFreeRIP@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This is an interesting view of it I think objectively Luka is a consensus top 3-5 player in the league which is gonna trump that most nba fans would say Book is somewhere between 6-12 so that kinda naturally answers the question when you ask public forum

But it’s definitely really close tbh. Book has absolutely dominated the matchup in the regular season but Luka has the upset victory in the playoffs which does carry the most weight

I think what gets lost is that Book is an incredible off ball player. I think last year Book was rated a top 3 off ball player with KD and Steph. Luka can never do that and he never will be able to do that

Book is elite on ball and off ball and as a playmaker and a scorer. Underrated defender. It’s definitely worth a discussion imo. Luka is in a tier of his own as a playmaker and on ball threat. One of the best heliocentric players ever

[–] musing_wanderer3@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I agree. I like Luka more but seriously - Booker is amazing. Lights out shooter, amazing offball player, efficient…people act like I’m not comparing THE best SG in the game rn to Luka. It’s not that far of a gap

[–] archerarcher0@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nah that’s cap I’d like to see the team that would rather have booker

Name a team in the league you’d rather have booker than luka on

[–] Key_Fox3289@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago
[–] raki016@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I'll trade the other guys to make Luka fit.

Come on.

Edit: we talking about Luka Garza right?

[–] everything_raptors@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Imagine both of them together on the same team..

[–] Careless_Review3166@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

As a wise man once said…

Luka Doncic is Devin Booker father

[–] Fifth_Element_Matrix@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Luka every day and twice on Sunday.

[–] Greaves624@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Been a Celtics fan since 2005ish and I'd give both Brown and Tatum for Luka.

disclaimer: My views don't represent the entire Celtics fanbase nor the city of Boston nor the state of Massachusetts, nor New England.

[–] Enzo2SantosGoal@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

So would Dallas

[–] Leading_Watercress45@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago
[–] chickenripp@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

On the surface it’s luka. But in reality you want booker. He has proven to attract other stars because they want to play with him. He’s also a basketball chameleon. He can be your on ball playmaker, your off ball killer, a combination of both. And he can fit with any talented group of player in the league.

Luka plays 1 way and you need to build the roster a specific way for him and stars generally aren’t that attracted to playing with him because the ball is always in his hands.

[–] counteroffer19@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Unfair to pit father vs son

[–] denverblazer@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Aaaaand... downvote.

[–] Exciting_Compote_547@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Tempted to go Luka, but 2nd generation stars have been on a recent run in the NBA. I’m taking Book

[–] NorthSeaworthiness4@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Booker isn't even the best plsyer in the team. So why compare at all?

[–] LoWE11053211@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

i mean

father and son

and the father is younger

so ...

Luka

[–] ClaimFederal6971@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I'm picking the guy who isn't totally gassed by the 4th quarter
