LeBron had an abysmal 8-23 FG (1-9 3FG), significantly lower than his stellar season averages (alongside 4 TOs).

Mitchell had an equally bad 4-18 FG (2-6 3FG) alongside terrible shots in the clutch.

I really thought both of them would have a monster game like the last few Lakers-Cavaliers duels but this was really disappointing.

pretty average shooting night from donovan

[–] prettyboylee@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I knew Bron would do this because he usually plays worse when there’s more than a day between games

[–] Elijahc513@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I think he said once that he does better when he plays more often

Yep re: pandemic stoppage

[–] Breezyisthewind@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I get that. I’m terrible on Monday at work because of this. Takes me a whole week to get back on groove after vacation lol.

[–] naslanidis@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Lebron got a couple of soft foul calls on bricked shots that bailed him out too. It was even worse than the statline suggests.

The Lakers winning games where LeBron is average to poor and missing key rotational pieces? Sign me the fuck up. AD carried but the other 6 guys who played stepped for LeBron and Vando/Rui/Vincent too.

Dmitch is honestly pretty garbage as a #1. If I’m the Knicks I don’t want any part of him

[–] TheSmokedSalmon420@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Why are so many people overreacting like this to his first game back in a week and a half

[–] Savings_Fig_6233@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He’s right though Donovan is a #2 not a #1

[–] Wild-Apricot-9161@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

He's too ball-dominant to be a #2. He would only work alongside Embiid/Jokic.

[–] RyuSunn@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If you have an opinion like this the only moment to say it would be after a shit game because you would get buried if you said it after a good game

[–] myyummyass@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Donovan will always get shit on because he's not quite as consistent as a lot of other star players. It's the same in the nfl where if you aren't Tom Brady levels of consistent fan bases say they're trash

[–] growsonwalls@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

He's a bit like Jamal Murray in that regard.

[–] Freemaxb1233@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

This is an idiotic take if they had Darius garland for the whole game they wouldn’t be able to trap him every time he had the ball

[–] Wedundidit00@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He’s been this way since Utah, it’s not this game specific

[–] myyummyass@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

He's the best player on every team he's been on so I don't see how he wouldn't ever be the #1

[–] Wavepops@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

He can just pass it, it’s not like Cavs need him to play hero ball to win. They scored plenty

[–] AntiGrav1ty_@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I mean it's not a good game by Lebron but how is 8-23 abysmal and how is 4-18 equally bad lmao

[–] DoctorDilettante@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I know you’re trying to be funny here, but Donovan Mitchell as a Cavs legend is crazy.

[–] BossButterBoobs@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Highest scoring game in Cavs history so he'd be a legend even if he rode the bench

[–] GrapefruitMedical529@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Right, isn't LeBrons highest score in the 50s somewhere? SMH he should pass the rock less. Be a true legend and take 40 shots per game.

[–] Jetzu@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I really hope in his final season he has a hot hand against some tanking team and just says "fuck it" and goes for career high

[–] Fyne_@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

donovan mitchell is not a cavs legend

[–] s_s@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Legitimate second best Cavalier of my lifetime.

[–] bobsstinkybutthole@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] Jepordee@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Huh? He’s definitely the 2nd best Cav in the lebron era. Kyrie is a solid 3rd - Mitchell is a top 10 talent in the NBA

[–] HeavenMobley@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

for now... Garland IMO runs the offense better and Mobley is more complete. All 3 guys can disappear.

[–] thaitiger29@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

lol he threw a playoff series against the team he's going to request a trade to

[–] myyummyass@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If you score 71 points in a game you are now a legend for that franchise no matter if you take a nap with a blankie on the bench for the rest of your career

[–] Freemaxb1233@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Darius garland leaving the game hurt the cavs because they just doubled Donovan every time down the floor. Even when he got single coverage he was taking contested shots.

[–] bobsstinkybutthole@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

The Spida special right there

[–] FoesiesBtw@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

When ur two favorite players have a mid off. Nice

[–] kniselysoccer13@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Are we calling Donovan Mitchell a cavs legend? Lmao

[–] myyummyass@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

71 points will get you that title easy

[–] HeavenMobley@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

he already has more better scoring games than Kyrie

[–] BloopGlorp@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Donovan Mitchell already a “Cavaliers legend” xD

Truly encapsulating what the city is about
