In sports that allow this, the teammate on that court usually has to get outside before the substituting teammate can go in. So for a few milliseconds you would have 4 players on the court, but never 6.

I think Embiid instead of AD makes the blue team much better and Embiid also fits the idea of "underachieving 2010s star". Right now I'm picking red though, it's built so much better

EDIT: I also feel like both teams would be better off if you swapped Dame and CP3 around?

Well the Spurs never repeated so that gives everyone else a chance this year right?

All 30 tournament games in the Eastern Conference have concluded. The Bucks, Pacers, Celtics, and Knicks have advanced to the knockout round. Here are the standings.

Final Eastern Conference Tournament Standings

2 A Indiana Pacers 4 4 0 546 507 39
3 C Boston Celtics 4 3 1 449 422 27
4 B New York Knicks 4 3 1 440 398 42

Quarterfinals will be Knicks @ Bucks and Celtics @ Pacers.

The bigger mistake was passing up on Haliburton

Kyrie Irving you are a Los Angeles Laker

HALFTIME UPDATE: Celtics margin of +19 isn't enough. Assuming Nets win, they need to up that to at least +23. Assuming Nets lose, they need to at least 19 + the Knicks margin (currently 9, so 28). Celtics will need to keep running up the score.

Funniest timeline would be Steven Adams, fuelled by marmite and Weet-Bix, making a miraculous recovery on the exact day Ja's suspension ends. The revamped Grizzlies go on a 40-17 run and scrape it into the play, then crush everyone to make the Finals.

True then 17 - 1 must be even easier

I'm actually concerned about some of you in the comments how do you people think 50 x 2 is difficult math

This gets said every year but I honestly believe this is the year where Sixers finally have a deep playoff run. I think Tyrese Maxey is going to be invaluable as the #2 option on the team and he seems like the kind of guy that would be a playoff riser

I think LeBron needs a fifth ring to be able to retire as the consensus GOAT

I like Maxey but there's no way he gets more votes than Haliburton and/or Dame

LeBron had an abysmal 8-23 FG (1-9 3FG), significantly lower than his stellar season averages (alongside 4 TOs).

Mitchell had an equally bad 4-18 FG (2-6 3FG) alongside terrible shots in the clutch.

I really thought both of them would have a monster game like the last few Lakers-Cavaliers duels but this was really disappointing.

Scored more points than SGA on better efficiency (SGA had 31 points on 61% TS).

What does Chet need to do to win ROTY?

The Phoenix Suns ended tournament play with a point differential of 34 points. The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Clippers by 10 points, making their point differential 33 points. Had they gotten one more basket, they would have a point differential of 35 points, which would have led to the funniest possible timeline.

Why? Rockets have the H2H tiebreaker over Pelicans as they defeated them - this means that if the Rockets defeated the Mavericks, the Pelicans would go down as #2, and they would have *pushed out* the Suns with their slightly higher PD. However, if the Mavericks defeated the Rockets, the Pelicans would have advanced as #1, and the #2 spot would be someone with a 2-2 record (that the Suns beat by default).

This means that we were robbed of the funniest possible timeline - Suns fans rooting for Dallas and Luka so that they can advance in the NBA Cup. If only Zion didn't miss one of his shots.

The Denver Nuggets end tournament play with a 2-2 record. It's impossible for them to win as the wildcard, as the Suns have a 3-1 record. If the Rockets beat the Mavericks or the Pelicans beat the Clippers, they have 3 wins and push the Nuggets down to 2nd or 3rd. If the Rockets lose and the Pelicans lose, it becomes a 2-2-2-2-2 tie and goes down to PD. However, Nuggets have a -10 PD, Rockets have an 18 PD, and Mavericks have a -14 PD. If the Rockets lose by less than 28, they have a PD advantage over Nuggets. If the Mavericks win by more than 28, they have a PD advantage over the Nuggets.

With the Suns now having 3 wins and being the second place team in the group, any team looking to advance as the Western Conference wildcard must have at least 3 wins. This eliminates OKC, who have 2 losses.

Of course, they can still make the playoffs, so this is only a minor problem for OKC.

Regardless of the results of the 76ers-Cavaliers game or the Pacers-Pistons game, the Indiana Pacers will now be #1 in all scenarios, and thus have advanced to the knockout stage.

They become the first team to ever do so. Lakers have the chance to be the second if they beat the Jazz.

Two young star PG duked it out in a thrilling, last minute 5 point win. The final 157-152 score is one of the highest total game scores of all time.

Also notable: Buddy Hield at 24 points on 109% TS (6/6 3FG)

The subreddit doesn't allow images for some reason, so here's a link to the image.

TL;DR

  • If the Lakers win and the Suns beat both of Memphis and Portland, Lakers advance with Suns #2

  • If the Lakers win with Suns losing either, Lakers advance with Jazz #2

  • If the Jazz win with the Suns losing either, Jazz advance with Lakers #2

  • If the Jazz win and Suns win both, we get a weird scenario where the point differential determines #1 and #2. The graphic helps break that down

There actually is a scenario where Portland can get in as #2, but that's not in the graphic as it would require Lakers to beat Jazz and Portland to beat the Suns by 13-44 points or more (depending on the margins of the Lakers-Jazz game).
