A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

So, long story short: I shot a wedding over two years ago and included some printed photos in the contract. They digital photos were sent to the clients within a week of the wedding and they were asked to look them over and choose which ones they would like to have printed. Skip to two days ago, when the bride messaged me and is asking if they can still have their printed photos, since they forgot to let me know which ones they wanted, or even respond to my reminders (which I sent for about 3 months after the wedding). im not in a place financially to print out a bunch of photos, and I think letting two years go by without even answering my messages is the clients responsibility, but I’m having a hard time coming up with a response for them since there’s nothing in the contract about time limit (I know… dumb on my part). Anyone have any ideas?

To add to what u/undetermined_outcom3 said, you can still print them but let them know the timeframe for getting them will take longer. You don't have to just come out and say "hey I can't afford that now" but can say something along the lines of "due to business constraints it may take a month or two to get the prints delivered, but let me know what you want printed and I will keep you updated when they come in and get shipped for delivery." That way it's still clear that you can't to it at the moment, but also still will honor the contract even a few years later.

And depending on what they want printed and at what size, it may not cost all that much anyway. So if you say that it may take a few months, and can then deliver within a month, that just makes it look like you're making even more of an effort than required by the contract.

Realistically, I'd supply the photos and adjust the contract moving forward.

My reasoning is that it is simply good business, and it will make you look good. Not to mention, they obviously value your product -- maintaining relationships with clients, IMO, can be a good thing.

How much is printing going to cost you? How many do they get?

If you dont want to print, you could tell them that you no longer have the photos, because its been so long. Hopefully the contract states how long you will archive client photos.

Maybe offer to have them printed at cost ? Plenty of cheaper canvas options Walgreens has decent canvas in store and runs 70% off all the time
