A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I've been doing more landscapes on medium format and really need to start using a tripod more. I have an older Mefoto I think. Its ok I guess, but I've always hated carrying a tripod anywhere anyways. I don't love the twist lock legs. Its bulky and heavy, so I just wind up leaving it at home. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for something that is relatively light and quick to setup.

I have a Manfrotto Compact Action tripod with a pistol grip that works well with smaller lenses.

The Manfrotto BeFree is excellent, but with a large head.

I have a Joby Advanced Compact that I was NOT impressed with at all.... Stay away.

I use the Ulanzi Zero Y tripod. Pretty good, compact, and light. Far cheaper and superior to the PD tripod. Might not carry long lens well though. Depends on your setup.
