Bones Hyland, after being a fan favourite, and promising young player in Denver now has 5 DNP's in the last 7 games.

Bones became a sort of malcontent on Denver, leading them to essentially trade him to the Clippers for next to nothing. The arrival of Harden, and Westbrook + Mann being there and playing a similar role has likely led to his irrelevance on the team. Are there other players who have been in this scenario? How have those player careers turned out?

I actually think Ayo Dosunmu is going through a similar thing. Promising rookie season that surpassed expectations, but now he's in year 3 getting fewer and fewer minutes.

How much of his 'fan favoritism' is purely based on his name?

i think he will have a role on this team at some point this season. either that or moved

streaky and trigger happy guards who cannot defend or playmake don't usually have long careers in the league

hyland became a fan favourite because shot a lot from long range at a decent percentage (while still being a horrible shot unless you can take advantage of it to open up other areas of your game) and because fans tend to think defence is an effort thing (when it is very unlikely a very bad defender turns to a good defender with time)

He’s in a very rare situation playing behind kawhi leonard harden pg and Russ. 4 hof players. Only thing that I can bring up would be cam Thomas behind kd kyrie harden.
