I have Nextcloud setup on my server. Its mainly used for friends and family to dump photos and videos onto so everyone gets a copy of everyones pics and videos. Usually after family trips, concerts, camping weekends etc. I will usually put mine there for anyone to download and they can add to the collection

But nextcloud just annoys me. On the backend I have so much drama updating it and usually just do a full rebuild, and on the user end everyone always gets sick of the constant verbal updates it wants and I just really dont want to deal with it anymore.

Whats the other solution? I want something simple like FTP server that people can just log onto easily but want it at least a little more secure.

Check out synology. They have a nice suite of apps for photo backup, documents, ect. Can’t run it on your own hardware but if your looking for easy and simple it can’t really be beat IMO

You can run in your own hardware if you want to mess with Xpenology. The Photos app is pretty nice.

I use Immich. It's basically self-hosted Google Photos. It supports multiple users, automated backups, album creation/sharing, and some nifty facial recognition.

It also supports sharing a link to people without an account to view and add to an album.

The downside is this is purely for pictures and videos.
