Landscapes photos aren't going to bring in any money unfortunately. Too saturated. Also, nobody is going to buy landscape photos while there's already millions available online.
For portraits their still is a market, but very saturated as well.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I didn't really make a choice in the matter, it was clients who started to offer money for what I enjoyed doing anyway.
For a couple of months after getting my first DSLR (in 2010), I was shooting everything from concerts to house parties and published it all as albums on Facebook. After enough albums circulated through enough friends' and friends' friends' feeds, I eventually got a call from a couple that wanted to hire me for their wedding. The ball kept rolling from there, nowadays my photos hardly include any people anymore.
