It’s not so much disrespectful as lazy. He also does this to almost everyone. Even if he was predicting a miss from Randle it wasn’t like he hustled over to box out a Knick or grab the rebound. He didn’t even leak out for the hit ahead. If anything Nurk disrespects Suns fans more than he does Randle’s jumper.
who is he supposed to box out lol. the only Knick player is on the other side of the basket and Nurk had the entire side to himself for the rebound. he can't control where the brick bounces

I’m telling you this is a legitimate defensive strategy at the local YMCA (if you’re guarding a big that is). People get SO in their head. Bust your ass on defense to get a stop or two, tell them they’re ass, and watch them crumble after they miss an uncontested bunny. You’re coasting the rest of the game.

Andre Miller would often not run out on wide open shooters and instead turn around before they shot the ball to get ready for the rebound. He said it was because guys were used to shooting with a hand in their face but if you give them time to think they’d be more likely to miss it.
Love that. Another good one for the Y is the 'Peter' defense. If you're late to contest a jumper you can lunge at their waistband region and 90% of the time it freaks people out and they shoot it short.
I'll never, ever claim to be a good basketball player but I played with three different 1000 point scorers in high school so I could damn near write a thesis on pickup defense. With that being said, a DII power forward dropped damn near 50 on my head in a mens league game so my powers can only go so far...

Randle's son was probably crying because of this as well.
I've noticed Randle and Jaylen Brown are similar, whatever action they choose to do next, they're sticking to it all the way no matter what the D gives you and no matter if it's one of their weaknesses.
They don't adapt quickly as much as they should. Tunnel vision and one-way street. It's one of the reasons I love Paul George, he's incredible at adapting, give him room he's shooting over you for an automatic bucket, crowd him he's leaving you in the dust.
Like saying ... "well, the odds are in my favor so ".
Sometimes I think I could never play in the nba, but then I see defense like this and yeah I can do that
Randle is not a serious player. He got his hand up so late on Book's game winner.

Great defense. Thats not a good shot even if he makes it close to 50% of the time. Most players get caught up in how it looks like you’re not competing or being disrespectful.
