I don't understand how QBR works. In Raiders/Chiefs game yesterday, O'Connell had a better QBR than Mahomes even though he wasn't better than Mahomes in a single quarterback related stat. What's up with that? Is it Mahomes' rushing stats that dragged his QBR down? No fumbles for either of them, so I'm totally confused.

It's a stat created by ESPN so they can talk about running QB's.

It doesn't work, ESPN just tries make it seem like it does.

Its ESPNs version of EPA. You can search for EPA and get a pretty good idea of how it measures it, but it has more with did you do something successful on the play or not. For example a 20 yard pass on 4th and 21 is not successful, but a 3 yard pass on 3rd and 2 is.
