Magic weren’t a bad team last after they got healthy. One year of development plus more rookies equals a better record.

They added Goga
Maybe not trading young pieces is the key? People are so fast with "trade X for y". Those superstar teams and the only way for some.
Confidence and trust can make a difference. But a guarantee, but chances are there.
Said that, it's a streak right now and it won't last forever for a young team. But next streak will be longer and longer I hope.
While I believe in the playoff this season, it won't get far. But 25 might be a different story.
Defense with Isaac off the bench is crazy, really adds to their depth
i really hope nobody thinks they’re gonna get anywhere this post-season
If you follow the magic last year, they actually played a lot of good teams tough. It was almost like they got up for the better teams, which makes sense from a young team.
Magic have a crazy good bench, which makes them very difficult to prepare for in regular season. You tweak your defensive scheme to stop Franz and Paolo, but you have Mo Wagner and Cole Anthony giving you 30 from the bench. I remember I was at the game when Bamba fought Austin Rivers - Magic starters were pretty bad and Wolves got 10-12 points early lead, but Magic bench scored 60-70 points in that game and won it for them.
Cole Anthony is a certified Wolves killer. That man always destroys us.
I feel like all his game winners are against you guys lol
I believe young players tend to get better as they get closer to their prime. Just a theory.
Wow! Ph.D. In philosophy, I'm guessing?
Cole is a hilarious basketball player who averages more rebounds as a guard than assists. JI is healthy and still is defensive KD. Mo energy is insane. All the starters play hard and actively attempt to play basketball as a team.!Emphasis on defense and having the vibes be immaculate in the locker room.
Don't even know where to start.
Compared to the Raptors, the Magic have:
- A better bench
- Better starters
- Better prospects
- Better front office
- More experienced coaching staff
I'll agree on everything but the front office. If it's GM/Pres specific maybe
Their bench has been super key. Even when the starters are outmatched it feels like the bench always overwhelms the other team’s secondary shifts
They were also very tough post ASB last year. Didn't always pull the games out, but they were a much better team overall. Finally closing out the games this year.
That's one of the biggest differences, they're learning how to finish games they would have blown last year.
Coaching
This was expected. They were my secret weapon in 2k23
A veteran bench that meshes together pretty much perfectly. You have a microwave scorer in Cole Anthony. Then you have two more scorers in Gary Harris and Mo Wagner, then Joe Ingles to help facilitate. Lastly, you have Jonathan Isaac to cover up any defensive deficiencies the second unit has.
They got the power of God and republicans now that Isaac is healthy.
You don’t think….that it could be been Mag- no, couldn’t be
We had “ayo the producer” remix our theme song and it’s got the city hype.
Play dat song 🎧
Blasphemy cause he does so many things well, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence this run has happened without Fultz.
Youre not missing his defense since the Magic are stacked at guard defensively. On offense Banchero/Franz are getting more shots per game (2 and 3 per game respectively w/out Fultz) + Suggs has been shooting very well so far. Black has been a work in progress but moving him to the starters has made the bench lineups having more shooting around Cole Anthon instead of Black.
Fultz is good but if they’re going to play Anthony Black (which they probably should), it’s very hard to balance three guards getting minutes who do not space the floor (Suggs likely not getting a ton of attention from defenses yet but could change that if he keeps it up)
they had by far the most injury problems/worst injury luck out of all the teams last year. seems like things are improving for them just by virtue of being healthy. also suggs is a dawg.
The team internally just progressed, but as a Magic fan I think one thing that no one has talked about is the team just has 10 guys that are “NBA Players” and would get some kind of minutes on 90 percent of teams.
Last year Bol Bol, Mo Bamba, RJ Hampton, Admiral Schofield, Kevin Harris, etc all played about 35 games for us. (RJ about 25). Even second rounder Caleb Houstan who I think has a chance to be an okay player played 50 games.
Not saying Joe Ingles, Moe Wagner, Gary Harris, Goga, JI, would play 30 minutes for contenders, but they are quality enough so that you can have them out there and feel okay about it especially against second units
They might be this year's November NBA Champs!!!
Now, of course, the problem is that there are many more MONTHS of the NBA season.
Not getting swept in the first-round of the playoffs is a great goal. Not trying to be funny. It is their realistic, most crazy ceiling.
Our team health is a big component as well. Markelle and Wendell Carter Jr are currently hurt, but to have a healthy JI/Gary Harris/ Jalen Suggs from seasons beginning has made a big difference
The emergence of Cole buying into his 6th man role and Moritz Wagner and Goga Bitadze playing confident ball has made big difference as well.
Above all else, a culture has been created in this organization and defense is a PRIORITY for anybody getting minutes, s/o coach Mose and staff for this.
Franz is a stud unlike that bust Kuminga
Franz Wagner is Magic Naysayers Father.
Goga Bitadze has been an underrated factor in the Magic's defense and overall play so far. Has been great in Wendell Carter's absence.
Mo Wagner has also taken advantage of the increased opportunity since Carter has been out too.
Perhaps Carter is expendable?
