I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving weekend! As always, this post is to really see what’s going on around the league after yesterday’s games. Who’s playing well, who’s playing poorly, complaints about your team losing, whatever it is.

Here’s what I took away from this week:

Dolphins are going to run away with the AFC east crown

On a similar note, the pats and jets are done for the year and the bills have a tough road to win the division.

Broncos Country is finally riding again.

Matt canada really WAS that bad after all. Maybe the steelers offense is alright now.

Chargers fucked up drafting Quentin Johnston over Zay Flowers. Best waiver wire pickup this season for me.

the playoff race is going to be really interesting over the next few weeks.

What are some of your reactions?

I saw Peter Carroll playing with some puppies on Thanksgiving and I'm now over my irrational hatred of that gum chewing dude.

[–] goddamnitwhalen@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Somebody in our sub was complaining the other day about him throwing his gum away on the sideline and how gross and disrespectful it is.

Idgi, man.

I think the Jags won the AFCS yesterday, and its now down to the Colts and Texans fighting for a WC spot (assuming the rest of the AFC doesn't fall off a cliff and let three AFCS teams in).

The Jags schedule is fairly easy from here on out:

vs. Bengals

@ Browns

vs. Ravens

@ Buccaneers

vs. Panthers

@ Titans

Apart from the Browns and Ravens games, I can easily see the Jags running over the rest of that schedule. The Texans and Colts down the stretch:

Colts Texans
@ Titans vs. Broncos
@ Bengals @ Jets
vs. Steelers @ Titans
@Falcons vs. Browns
vs. Raiders vs. Titans
vs. Texans @ Colts

I think teams will officially stop sleeping on the Broncos after hanging 29 on the Browns.

3 of the next 6 are division games along with the Lions and Texans. Broncos gonna need to keep that chip on their shoulder until the fat lady sings if they want a shot at the playoffs.

Turns out… Our teams have a lot in common

I never wanted that

[–] houtex727@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Refs are either being paid off or they have bets in Vegas, I don't know which, but it was egregious yesterday Jags v Texans.

/yeah yeah, one game, but MAN, that was a piss poorly called game for sure, one of the worst cases of 'why have refs at all?'.

[–] asbestosman2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Despite their tough schedule I think the bills totally have a shot to get a wild card spot in the AFC

I’m kinda getting worried about the Eagles- not because of a close win, but because I keep on thinking this team is gonna “click,” they haven’t reached their full potential. They’re still my Super Bowl pick though.

I’m also worried about the ravens, our 2 blowout wins against NFC “contenders” keep on looking less impressive.

Not a take on the games themselves, It’s 2:00 so I’m guessing that Brandon Staley is gonna stay for at least another week for some godforsaken reason- how does this guy still have a job.

[–] goddamnitwhalen@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Eagles - Dolphins, calling it now.

[–] HolographicHeart@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

McDermott is officially coaching for his job. Josh Allen is 0-6 in OT and yet in every one of those losses, he has not the been the final one to touch the ball. Think back to every instant classic the Bills have played over the past few seasons.

Hail Murray? Bills defense cannot stop a desperation heave.

13 seconds? Bills defense gives up two consecutive huge plays to Mahomes to force OT where the defense would give way again.

Vikings JJ catch? It was 4th and forever, maybe it was destined but the defense has to make a better effort to make sure he cannot catch the ball.

I could continue but I obviously relent with the same thing I have said since their Divisional loss in 2021: McDermott is a great coach but an awful game manager. If his team isn't thrashing the opposition he does not have the nerves and rationality to call a game. The number of times this man has rolled out Cover 4 or Prevent when only up by a single score is staggering.

[–] wmlucas@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

100% agree. We won’t ever win anything as long as he’s our coach.

[–] albundy66@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Sirianni is a terrible game manager that gets bailed out by high end talent

[–] JohroFF@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’m tired, boss

[–] Dat-dude21@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Watching that Bills Defense let Philly March down the field at the end of the game and OT brought back flashbacks of Zimmer’s toward the end of his time with us. That Gabe Davis miscommunication had to keep him up all night last night. And the missed FGs, Bills are the AFC Vikings

[–] oraclestats@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The usage of Keenan Allen / Ekeler is like someone playing Madden. Keenan Allen has a strong chance of passing his career high in receptions next week. He is also 31.

[–] Available_Lion7012@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ravens have a chance to win the AFC

[–] Slugggo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

this feeling has persisted for more than 8 hours

I may need to see a doctor

[–] throwawayjoeyboots@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Eagles are my SB pick because there is some kind of magic voodoo in each game that causes miracles to happen. The sports gods are clearly doing something here.
Absolutely decimated by injuries yesterday and yet another late 10pt deficit and still finding a way to win.

Brian Johnson still sucks though. You can tell who actually watches the game versus the box score by people’s opinions of him.

[–] Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ravens are frauds and that will come to light when they play a true SB contender

-Disgruntled Ravens fan

[–] ahrzal@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If we make the playoffs this year and Love continues to play well, this season is an absolute W.

If he really turns into another franchise QB…

[–] DrummerGuy06@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The NY Giants' 3rd-string quarterback is barely putting together drives for touchdowns to beat garbage teams and Giants' fans are developing Stockholm Syndrome for him because he leans into Italian Stereotypes for the memes. Giants fans are also wondering if it was a good idea for Schoen to say out-loud that they're probably looking at adding to the QB position next draft, even though the current QB room has a contracted QB that can't get back to his personal record of 15 TDs a season, a second-string QB who's perennially injured or is making the most risk-averse throws in the NFL, or a third-string QB whose current claim-to-fame is that he still lives with his parents; this third-string QB is also throwing more TDs in a game than the contracted starter.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking forward to some Eagles' end-of-season shellackings - that should wake this fan base up to the fact that Jones, Taylor, and CERTAINLY DeVito are nowhere near the answer and if they want to stay competitive with a division that has Hurts, Prescott, and even Howell in their division, they need to upgrade the QB position and QUICK.

[–] Greatness46@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You aren’t welcome at the post beating the Eagles party then

[–] MyNameIsJudge8@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Stop licking my heels cowboy fans I’m starting to slip

[–] slinkyman98@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Jags are a good team but not a contender. Needed the refs to avoid getting swept by the Texans. They are at the top of the second tier of AFC teams but no shot they go into Baltimore or KC and win a game.

Texans are a solid team but the pass defense and lack of run game will be our Achilles heel this season. CJ Stroud also has a few rookie moments that have cost us and if those continue those will hold us back

[–] dudemcbob@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Packers' hot streak is legit. A wildcard is actually on the table, and if they pull off the upset next week, they could even hope for better than a 7 seed. Never thought I'd be saying that 3 weeks ago.

The Eagles are so fun to watch. That Jake Elliot kick is going to be replayed for years.

The top of the AFC may be crowded, but the Ravens look better than the rest. They don't really have a weakness beyond randomly beating themselves.

Has anyone actually seen Mac Jones and Zach Wilson in the same room together?

[–] albundy66@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nobody wants to win the NFC South

[–] DarthNightnaricus@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The Browns are fucking dead.

Chargers need to get rid of Staley ASAP.

Broncos are back.

Colts have been slept on.

There's a decent possibility that the Rams somehow make the wild card at 9-8 just because they're the least bad team in the hunt.

The last AFC wild card spot is a free-for-all.

[–] Majestic_Reindeer439@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Rams finishing 9-8 is not a take I've seen yet. Looking at their schedule, they still have a scheduled loss to the 49ers and a tough game against Baltimore. It could happen.

One thing that gets interesting is tiebreakers. I genuinely think the Packers can finish 9-8, and they would have a tiebreaker over the Rams. Not sure how this changes if Seattle or Minnesota or even both finish 9-8 as well.

[–] AppleMuffin12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I can only find Houston highlights for the game yesterday. And the missed field goal. One would think we weren't in the lead for pretty much the whole game. But the refs!!!! They sucked both ways. Atrocious reffing and they need to be fired.

[–] DuckDuckGoodra@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I really wish my team was bad so I could laugh. Instead my team is insanely talented and we find creative ways to lose games we should win.

Really it's the hope that kills you.
