I find the monthly prices on Airbnb outrageous and also at Booking.com but to a lesser degree.

What is your strategy for finding better monthly deals?

Is there a service online where data on expected monthly rates is shared?

Perhaps there is a need for such a service to be created?

Thanks!

I've been nomadding for the last year in SE Asia and I find about $800 is the sweet spot to find a place that ticks all the boxes. (Clean, spacious, good location, excellent reviews, etc)

Just don't use airBnB and that price tag will be cut in half.

What other options are even available? Airbnb has reviews and is cheaper than hostel private rooms in most places.

Give it another year or so, accommodations are going to get much cheaper. Just better hope you have enough clients or keep your job.

How do you figure it'll get cheaper?

Do you think we should share the secret website that has all of the inventory at half price?

I do the airbnb for a couple weeks to see how i like it then i message the host directly and work out a deal with them and agree on a monthly price.

This doesn't work because usually there is a day or two already booked so you can't get the month so no you are moving again

Facebook groups. I use them exclusively in SEA and pay whatever I want for rent. I haven't used airBnB in years. There is never a shortage and accommodation are dirt cheap.

Monthly rentals are bound to increase due to the sheer demand of remote workers nowadays. I have no data about the airbnb occupancy compared to past years, but I do know someone who does nomad visa consultancy. In his opinion the demand is up by like 7x compared to precovid. So I just assume demand supply is causing most monthly stays to be a lot higher.
