You had a segment about prettiest shooting strokes a few weeks ago and you didn't mention Vezenkov. I honestly don't know what I'm watching when he shoots... is that shot pretty?!

[–] geekcastinator@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hi Tim! Thank you for your consistently excellent basketball analysis in the big media landscape.

In your experience covering the league, how highly do you rate early season team chemistry as a predictor for championship success? Conversely, are there any contenders you would count out of contention due to a lack of chemistry, despite the talent?

[–] TimLegler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Chemistry is vastly underrated when looking at the potential success of NBA teams. It's a combination of guys actually liking being around each other AND role definition and acceptance. The top teams on my list this year have it. Nuggets, Celtics, Bucks. Let's see about Suns, Mavericks, T-Wolves.

[–] CleverBunnyThief@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What do you think of the in-season tournament so far?

What adjustment(s) would make for next year?

[–] WembyandTheWolves@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Any stories of player getting upset about something either of you have said or written? Don’t need to name names but any interesting stories? Also, did you eventually think you were in the wrong or do you think the player was over reacting?

[–] TimLegler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes a few times guys have gotten upset. The irony is that in every case, the player heard about a comment through a 3rd party. And it always gets twisted by one of their "boys" who hits em up like "Man, did you hear what Legler said about you??" and then proceeds to get it all wrong or out of context

[–] Cartman55125@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey Tim!

What is going on with Nikola Jovic? He balls out in FIBA, but can’t get playing time for the Heat (who need size). And then he’s criticizing the org in interviews?

More specifically, why do you think Spo isn’t using him?

[–] FoShzzleMsFrizzle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It seems like every 10 or 15 years the NBA’s style of play changes drastically. For the past 8 or 9 years we’ve been in the “3pt revolution”, the late 2000s and early 2010s introduced some pace and space—at least relative to the “deadball era” before that—and so on and so forth.

What do you see as the next big shift in the NBA game? Is it the blistering speed of the Pacers, the switchable, domineering athletes of the Magic, or the positionless, omnidirectional playmaking on the Thunder? Do you think the change will come via team (Nash’s Suns bringing pace to the game in the 2000s, Jordan’s Bulls moving the ball more in the 90’s, etc) or will it be a singular player, ie Steph?

Thanks for the work you do for NBA crackheads like us! I know this is a tough question but I hope I made it clear enough.

Hello! First, new podcast is awesome, really enjoying it so far!

With the way Denver is constructed with multiple playmakers on the floor, teams like the Rockets, Spurs and Kings going for that idea too (and OKC going even further in that mold) do you think that the league is trending more towards ball movement or these are only exceptions and the league will go back to more iso focused and heliocentric strategies?

Congrats on the podcast guys, love the content so far and the focus on pure basketball and your unique perspectives.

My question: it’s well known the national media focuses on stars and big markets. What, if anything, are you trying to do differently with All NBA that NBA fans and sickos can appreciate?

[–] TimLegler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We are trying to give coverage of the entire league and a nuanced analysis of the entire roster/rotation. And we can do that because both Adam and I are WATCHING these games.

Do you stand by your comments criticising sport media journalists? Do you think this had an effect on the downturn in your career?

[–] Hernois17@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Adam

  1. should Murray still stagger with the bench once he returns? I think no, because Reggie seems more effective as the bench point guard and Murray is more effective with jokic than without.

  2. can and or should Zeke be traded this season?

  3. do you

Legs:

As one of the OG former players in media, what’s your take on today’s player-driven media?

Would you have had a podcast as a player a-la Road Trippin?

That threesome pod with JJ & RJ was great and I always look forward to your breakdowns with SVP!

[–] etorson93@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are the major differences in the game today as compared to when you played?

You vs Jay Bilas. Who's winning a game of one on one?

[–] lastinglovehandles@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do you see the league taking action about this Chris Paul and Scott Foster debacle? Did you see or have heard of similar experience during your playing days?

Hi Tim, can’t think of anything interesting to ask. So just going to go for the boring question. Who do you think sixers should trade for at the deadline, also a lot of people think the sixers should also make an additional, smaller trade. Who do you think that should be, if you agree?

[–] BoneyardBill@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey! Thanks for hosting this AMA. I have loved your guys new podcast as well as the other ones you have been on, Old Man and the Three, DNVR etc. When are we gunna see the collab with Legs, Mares, and Reddick? I would love to see this as all of you have some great takes that are not just nationally focused.

Also did you see King Julian (Julian Strawther’s) block last night. Any thoughts on his defensive potential?

Thanks!

[–] Agile-Product@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is this the season where the nail goes in the coffin for the older stars i.e. LeBron, Kawhi, Steph, KD? The Suns are in contention, but with the young talent I'm seeing in the league and the dominant play of recent champions Jokic and Giannis, I'm not sure I see a path to a championship for anyone outside of KD.

[–] TimLegler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Agreed for the most part. It gets very tough at this stage to lead teams across the finish line. KD is still potent enough and has found a place that gives him enough supplemental fire power to take pressure off of him to be the flag bearer every night. These other aging stars aren't on complete enough teams

[–] porkadachop@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey Adam. I don't have a question, I just wanted to say fuck the Lakers!

[–] IdRatherBeLurkingToo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] BoneyardBill@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Fav Cheese?

[–] InvestmentGrift@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Curious about the history of the warriors' offense. Obviously there's a little of the motion offense run around Tim Duncan in there, and a little sprinkle of MJ's triangle action. What other influences are in there? Who else ran motion before the Spurs? What other teams ran triangle action in the past? Any other key influences I'm missing?

[–] floridaloon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Legs! At this point in the season, what team(s) have surprised you, positively and negatively, given their current W/L record and overall team performance?

Which player(s) do you enjoy watching in the current season? Also, many thanks for the great podcast with Adam, and for covering the game the right way!

[–] TopOfTheKey@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Washington Wizards have become one of the more clowned franchises in recent memory with their start to the 2023 season and some may argue this is the most people have talked about the Wizards in some time.

As a media pundit with ties to the Washington DC area, while maintaining a lack of bias as an analyst, how are you generally viewing the recent conversation around the franchise and DC sports as a whole?

[–] FultonHomes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey y’all. It’s early but right now who is your favorite to win it all? What team is checking boxes?

[–] metanoia_cross@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey Tim thanks for doing this. You were a shooter back in the day with the Bullets. Do you think you'd thrive in this modern era and how many points would you average

[–] Workingonlying@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey Tim, any locks tonight?

[–] imdx_14@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Could you consider dialing back the energy on the podcast? It's a bit too high for the podcast format, which typically requires a more subdued tone. Thanks!

What would you like to see from paolo and franz individually that would allow them to reach the next level?

[–] brook_lyn_lopez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hi Tim. First time, long time. Do you feel the pressure to work on your lower body often with a name like Legler? How often do you do calf raises? How much do you squat? Video proof preferred.

[–] 8512332158@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Where were you on January 6?

[–] The_NGUYENNER@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hey Legs, what's the biggest thing you disagree with Adam on about the Nuggets

[–] Smenderhoff@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tim - how do you feel about having one of the best nicknames in journalism?

[–] IdRatherBeLurkingToo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Adam-

First off congratulations on all the success you've had with DNVR and All-City. My question:

Do you think there's anything that the general NBA world is still not fully understanding about Nikola Jokic and his impact on the game?

Keep up the great work!

For those who haven't seen it yet: Adam and DNVR did a fantastic documentary on hoops in Serbia when they visited two summers ago. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeTmrsVW8qE

Adam, what would you consider to be your best work? (I'm just giving you an opportunity to plug, I've already seen it).

Love your work man, I'm proud of you for your growth.

[–] MyNameIsTheFurnace@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tim, I think the biggest surprises of the NBA season so far are the Orlando Magic and OKC Thunder. Are you a believer in these teams?

Also where have you been analyzing the game lately? I haven’t seen you on the regular ESPN channel in a hot minute and I miss seeing you break down the action the games.

[–] Himmy_Buckets22@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Legs: do you think NBA plays are more complex today or in your era?

[–] HuonNyx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Adam, with All-City's growing podcast network, has David Locke reached out about you starting to encroach on his territory?

[–] HuonNyx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

ESPN, All-City and JJ's pod, Tim, how do you have time to be on all these shows?

[–] TimLegler@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm a hoop junkie. What can I say? I love these formats where I can dive into a topic to a far greater degree than I can in a limited spot on live TV. Being more in control of the content and conversation is awesome

If the warriors have a mediocre season this year (i.e. they are a play-in team or worse), what paths do they realistically have to improve their team into contention?

If they cannot make substantial enough improvements, is it crazy to believe Steph will be traded in the next offseason?

[–] rookie-mistake@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Can you guys pin a comment linking the GDT thread
