The Kings are 8th in Adjusted Reb Chance. They're actually a pretty decent defensive rebounding team; the counting numbers are low because we shoot a high percentage (...and a bit of it is that the opposing team shoots a high percentage as well lol).

Adams is the anomaly here. One box outs, but it’s even more drastic when you only consider his DREBs vs his defensive rebounding impact. He’s the best OREB guy in the league.
I think Sabonis is also a good rebounder, just in a more traditional way. It’s a more difficult case to make, just on data, that a guy getting a lot of rebs isn’t a good rebounder. It’s just kind of rare. But some data like contested rebounds and adjusted on/off stuff can help
Adams doesnt stat pad rebounds like most big men and stars, he averages 3.7 offensive rebounds and only 4.5 defensive rebounds, two seasons he literally average more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds. Playing with Westbrook also took away from his rebounding totals
Adams imo is the best rebounder in the league. The team just does better with him in even if he isn’t getting them. Not to mention the ORebs he somehow pulls out his ass.
Pretty well a one man rebounding machine. Missing him greatly.
Healthy Robin Lopez was historically like Adams as well. Never got a ton of individual boards, but his team’s rebounding percentage was really high while he was on court because he loved boxing out multiple people at once.
So Sabonis is just lucky his team sucks at rebounding? Adams be carrying those good teams on his back for real.
