We seen how they did last year and how they looked washed this year how did they win the championship with essentially the same team a year ago. Was 2022 the weakest the league ever been post 2000?

It was a very well built team. Poole was hooping, Wiggins was playing elite defense, GP2 was playing elite wing D, Draymond had a DPOY caliber year, Steph was a top 3 player, Klay could still shoot it, And Looney gobbled up every rebound.

People can shit on this current roster, but come on. If you watched that season you knew they were legit. The won the title on the floor at the Garden.

Go troll elsewhere where more appropriate

It’s looking more and more insane now that they won. All-time lightning in a bottle stuff from Poole and Wiggins.

The league in general was just weak that year. Lakers were a disaster, Nuggets injuries, Dallas made the WCF.

Celtics were probably the stronger team and blew it in the Finals.

This is all just revisionist history. The Warriors were the clear best in the NBA in 2022 as long as they were healthy. They were on a 67 win pace in games Steph and Draymond played together. Boston or anyone else winning that year would’ve been an upset.

[–] GamedayDev@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

dallas made the wcf because they got hot and beat a 60 win team, that doesn’t mean the west was weak

>Was 2022 the weakest the league has ever been post 2000

Lol what a weird rewriting of history

[–] Longjumping-Cup8062@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poole was legit hooping, Wiggins looked like Kawhi at time’s, Tatum’s epic disasterclass in the finals, and Steph being an all time great.

[–] DeineCable@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Don’t let your recency bias taint that year. No need to back to the future just to diss this year’s team.

[–] lima9987@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They got hot at the right time! Wiggins was a legitimate all star, Klay was still producing, and poole had some huge moments. And as a Celtics fan it pains me to say but Tatum sucked in the finals lol

[–] yoppee@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Steph Curry is literally one of the best players ever.

[–] MixInfamous6818@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

"Win a real ring Steph"

[–] Brady331@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don't want to talk about it.

[–] Wilt69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Clippers/Nuggets injured and Grizzlies inexperienced/missing Ja in important games. In the East, the inexperienced Celtics made it to the Finals. Warriors definitely do not win if the Bucks made it and toss up but harder opponent in the Heat.

[–] kumingaaccount@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Wiggins and Curry were great. Poole got hot in round 1 and helped us get to round 2 single handlely almsot. Also Moody had some great games(WCF). Had some really good bench players. It was just a group effort.

[–] Fr0_oz3n@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They had shooters and defenders. It was a great year.

Say what you want about Poole, Warriors miss his scoring ability. Klay had a donut tonight in the fourth quarter. Wiggins 3 points. Poole is at least giving you 10 in those moments.

[–] boydivision30@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Steph was immortal in Game 4, then Boston folded soon after that.

[–] Turbulent_Ad903@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How was the league weak when the Celtics are still the best team in the East and Warriors easily dispatched them in the Finals?

[–] Carne_Asada_Friez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They scored more points than the other teams

[–] YDHmanC1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poole and Wiggins were killing it!. Steph did his thing, but those two were the 2nd and 3rd best players that run. Otto Porter Jr. gets and honorable mention, he played some valuable ball throughout the season. Also Mike Brown!!

[–] Napilitan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Warriors win it all and this nephew logically assumes it was weakest year ever.

5/5 will read again

[–] 30vanquish@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poole was an amazing sixth man before his ego got to him. Wiggins was a two way wiggs. Draymond was focused. Good bench with OPJ, GP2, Belijca. The Mavs upset the Suns which was a better matchup for the warriors. The Celtics beat the Heat which was a better matchup for the warriors.

[–] achyutthegoat@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Curry was way better, they had much better depth, and the competition was kind of weak

[–] NuuuDaBeast@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Search up Tatum’s field goal % im fourth quarters of the finals (he averaged 3 points). I don’t think there was a true worthy opponent they faced they were just better.

[–] MGubser@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They were the best defensive team in the league. They were officially number 2 in the regular season with Draymond missing significant time. They were basically full strength for most of the playoffs (besides the time GP2 missed).

[–] IntraspaceAlien@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They were better than they are now, got hot at the right time, and didn’t face any world beaters in the playoffs. Suns choked hard, mavs and Celtics weren’t quite ready yet. Warriors were playing well and had a massive advantage in experience.

[–] gigglios@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The competition was much worse in 2022. Warriors didnt face any legit teams that whole run due to injuries to so many stars. The teams they beat were all really trash aside from celtics who werent a high lvl contender you generally see in the finals anyways

[–] chinoisbonkers@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Because the beat the Celtics

[–] radical_findings_32@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

With a Game 4 Curry step back dagger 3 with two people contesting him 2 feet out from the 3 point line

Was 2022 the weakest the league ever been post 2000?

Bruh the league the last few years has been deeper than ever

[–] Which_Hawk_7712@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Steph was great and Poole wasn’t dogshit

[–] itsbimbap111@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

otto bots roll out

[–] MambaSaidKnockYouOut@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poole and Wiggins played above their heads. GP2 was great too.

But also I think this is a ridiculous post. Last year the Warriors made it to the conference semis, and this year they’ll probably at least make the playoffs. This is a team full of old or aging stars, inconsistent young guys, and Andrew Wiggins. Of course players get worse as they get deeper into their 30’s, that doesn’t mean they were never good lol

In 2021 the Bucks won the finals, then in 2022 they lost in the conference finals, then in 2023 they lost in 5 games in the first round. Does that retroactively make the 2021 season weak?

[–] MathTough1501@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They have a whole season highlights. Go watch it on YouTube.

[–] rapsfan911@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

honestly, celtics choked

[–] deets23_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Poole and Wiggins went off against us in addition to Steph obviously

[–] Kikifoun_Unui@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] walter_____pinkman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It felt like that finals came down more to the Celtics losing than the Warriors winning. Curry did go off ofc but if Tatum had consistently performed at even 60% of his top form then we'd have probably won, sadly the crazy minutes Tatum played that season along with his shoulder injury left him whiffing every finish and airballing every jumper by the end tho.

[–] Wild_Particular4003@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They faced an injured Nuggets team. Grizzlies were a young core. Mavs were also younger and not playoff experienced yet

[–] isaacz321@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They were damn good on defense like others said. Dray gave a shit during the season and played like an all star.

West was a bit weak yes since lakers and clippers were non factors and Utah imploded chemistry wise. 4 good teams in conference and only 2 imo were contenders gs and phx but then phx imploded too. Luka with his help that year isn’t making conference finals last year or this year imo.

[–] ericdeben@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Celtics forgot how to play basketball. They scored below 100 points in their 4 losses because of high turnovers, terrible shot selection, and great defense from the Warriors.

[–] anesthesiologist2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good team around healthy top 20 player will always equal a ring with enough attempts.

[–] NoAsk111@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They got hot, everyone was hurt, and that’s how a champion is born.

[–] savadonner@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] JoJonesy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Steph Curry + elite defense is a viable strategy for a deep playoff run. Steph Curry + mediocre defense... not so much

[–] RainbowSupernova8196@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Roster depth. That's how.

[–] NoWayNotThisAgain@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The road was easy. The Nuggets were hurt and the Suns were in that Maury Povich episode where Maury yelled “Luka Doncic, you ARE the father”

[–] rascalmendes@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Celtics collapsed under the pressure and curry was unreal
