Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
{|do it}
my uni has like 2 printers :((
and you're not putting them to good use?
They are now your printers.
Tell me some of your GIMP techniques sticker girl
Took me 2.5 hrs to blow up a scanned copy of something. Many factors in play, but the worst one was how I took too long to realise that scaling the image is different from scaling the layer (I wanted to do the latter).
Ok so like
it largely depends on whether or not you want to use them as large sticker (256, 512 pixels) or small emojis (64px), or both 💀 (which is how i make them, for matrix chats)
I found that:
- They're better when they have a consistent art style (all by the same artist or by artists that imitate their style (like vanripper the creator of helltaker, and girlie that is above))
- Try to get as close to the face as possible, what you want is expression, fuck the hair, fuck the hands, just raw emotion.
The hardest part really isn't GIMP, it's finding the source images, after that it's a breeze! You might wanna setup GIMP shortcuts for Crop To Content and Flip Image Horizontally (because people's avatars render from left to right, so you want the sticker to face to the right, the ones above are a terrible example, cuz it looks like she's explaining this to a wall.)
As for GIMP logistics, Just use what you like, all of these are just cropping and re-scaling.If you wanna cut out images really fast just use https://briaai-bria-rmbg-2-0.hf.space/. Hell you can get so good at it, you start doing art forgery, and editing the art to make it smile, frown, or blush.
I could go into more detail~
Go on go on, I've bookmarked this post so that I can reread it when I actually get some free time (which is anywhere between the next few hours to the next 2weeks)
Wellllll
I guess we can talk about finding source images, because that really is the hardest part. I use hydrus which builds your own local booru. What's a booru? imma link to this reply i once posted. I mean you can technically just make stickers, by browsing a booru, and using Firefox's screenshot feature, sure it's annoying as fuck, but you can instantly crop stuff and save it without having to go through the hassle of installing and learning a new software.
yapping
Now, there could be a way to search for a character, and filtering it by the artists who drew them the most, but i'm still tryna figure that out. I might dump the entire process on my blog. So there's like, a cheat code, just use stickers made by other people sigstick has so so many sticker packs it's crazy. But I don't do that because it's not fun, but i can see why some people might wanna use them.
If you wanna do them in gimp, then please make a directory with the source images, and edit them from there, i wish there was a way to Export All using GIMP, maybe there is, maybe ihaven't searched, and if there isn't one, xodtool
is always a thing...
that artist up there is gogalking and they already have a nice catalogue of original characters with all kinds of expressions.
I've recently learned you can just buy adhesive paper and print stickers.
i'm old school, but thanks for the tip!
awawa she looks like she came straight out of omori
can I has sticker
boop! boops a sticker onto your forehad
:3
My god. What a wonderful sight.
Can a caffeine addict with the worst case of rbf request a sticker for my flask? I need to fill it up enough space that when I put a "warning, radiological samples" sticker on it people wont freak out and call hazmat. (It looks like some kind of hazardous samples container with its bigass handle)
of course you can have stickers! here these ones seem to be appropriate
Hehe I know that last guy
Magnificent Now I've just gotta find out if there's a label printer somewhere near me that does vinyl :D
I'd tune into a live stream of a sticker obsessed person handle gimp, surely they gotta have some skills. Actually, wouldn't it make more sense if they used inkscape?
Well it's mostly just cropping images, but i think i can use GIMP pretty well. I've used Inkscape to create many images, and it's very confusing...
speaking of Inkscape, and generally svg/pathing tools, i love GIMP's selection to path so much!!!!
Auby
