U/abe-fro-man

Devin booker even agrees it’s a good thing. Teams should play hard to avoid being blown out. I’m sorry the wizards aren’t that franchise

[–] Huge-Connection954@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ah a man of culture

[–] East_Quiet_8486@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Devin Booker please return Friday game please

[–] jamp0g@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

i don’t like the dude but respect.

also if you don’t know, you can legally bet on the scores of an nba game. that’s why i really didn’t get this respect thing. it is more of a money/odds thing to me.

[–] -FuckenDiabolical-@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Cam Payne LOL

[–] joshuamillertime@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Interesting hearing this from him. Booker seems like the kind of player to get upset at the opponent scoring on the final possession when already leading

[–] Julio_Freeman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Scorer wants to score more points without being judged. Shocker.

[–] InSearchofOMG@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Demar DeRozan would beg to differ

[–] Last_Foam_Finger@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Idk how more athletes don’t think like this. When I was kissed I was pissed if I was on a team that got mercy ruled because I wanted to keep playing. Never thought 10 run rules, or mercy rules taught valuable lessons at all.

[–] Jackfitz88@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can’t wait to see his tone when he’s choking in the playoffs again.

[–] Left-Account1798@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Agree. Insane to me all the ego driven, unspoken rules in pro sports. Y’all are basically getting millions to have extended recess with your buddies

[–] Money-Trees-@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thanks Devin. Refreshing

[–] rabidantidentyte@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Booker is fake competitive. 0fg in the first half of game 7

[–] BigWormsFather@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If you don’t want the other team to score then stop them. I feel this way about every sport, at least at the higher levels.

[–] Squarians@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Same guy who got mad when people double teamed him in a pickup game. Just saying.

[–] simpledeadwitches@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The fact that people act like running a score up is disrespectful at all need to wake up. Sports athletes get paid plenty and fans pay to see action not people sitting or not playing hard.

[–] nickolsdrew@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Hell yeah D Book . I was kinda on the other side of it but I felt that.

[–] blacksoxing@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nothing worse than seeing a person get injured during "garbage time" for no damn reason. I don't wanna see Devin out there pulling a hammy or whatnot just so he can get 40 while the Suns are up 20.

When the game is over, the game is over. I get it...it's a bit unfair that someone may not get their stats because they're winning so much! Again, these are professionals; let their agent make the case that their client may not be averaging X because on Y specific games they were yanked and only played Z minutes...

[–] whofusesthemusic@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

its nuts that in this era of sports betting that the NBA isn't ALL over this kind of stuff. Book has the only right opinion on this if its a betting league.

[–] minimallyviablehuman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Some NBA players are saying “respect the game.” A competitive game should never have a time where people are not playing for real. And when bench players come in they are expected to dribble the ball out and turn it over? It’s stupid. Let them always play to win. Always. They are professionals. If you don’t want them to score more points on you don’t let them score. I can see not running the score up in middle school, but high school basketball and beyond there shouldn’t be any concern with running it up.

[–] TsmMufasa@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wanna see IMG academy vs BS high every night

[–] OliverPK@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

see he gets it

[–] pepenuts98@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He wants to stat pad lmao

[–] Mhunterjr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, this is why I just can’t be entertained by the NBA until playoff time

[–] GarlicJuniorJr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

"We not doubling in open gym!"

"Hey ref! That mascot in the empty arena is distracting me! Eject him for me please!!"

"Tonight's an elimination game for us?? Ok let me score 12"

Play until the end, just high competition...this freakin guy

[–] HeyWhatsUpTed@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What if for each point differential you lose a ping pong bal

[–] Senior_Apartment_343@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah , ok. From the guy who was bitching about double teams during summer runs. Just looked up studio gangster in dictionary, there is a picture of booker

[–] james_randolph@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Some grade school basketball team doesn’t need to be embarrassing another team and running up the score. These guys are professionals making millions, every player is making millions. If they get the ass beat by 40 points they need to just go home and stop crying about it. Mad? Don’t let another team embarrass you then, it’s that simple.

[–] GentrifvsWhiteflight@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

But no mascots and no double teams at practice

[–] philium1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Devin Booker is an annoying little fucker on the court when you’re rooting against him, but at the end of the day you gotta respect his competitive drive. Real hooper for sure

[–] ijpck@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Funny because the suns lost it when Zion 360’d on them at the end of the game

[–] buddha6521256@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So why was his team pissed when Zion windmilled on them?

Sounds like hypocrisy to me

[–] stinx2001@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

In my old man over 35s league, if there's a blow out the last 2 minutes turn into a half court shoot out, it's kinda fun

[–] jslona92@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Unless you double team him in a pick up game

[–] tattletalestrangler1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Says the guy who didn't wanna get double teamed in pick up

[–] blj3321@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The other end of the spectrum is dudes who won't shoot long distance shots as the quarter runs out because they don't want to hurt their 3p %

[–] swampdragon69@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Luka doncic is Devin bookers father

[–] Dmbender@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah it sucks getting the score run up on you, but giving teams that are already losing the opportunity to play spoiler by keeping the game close enough to knock out the victor is why things like Goal/Point differential produces a reason to watch games that are already decided.

[–] SincereFan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I was getting so much hate from Magic fans after being mad at Mosley for benching his first and second unit and even some of the third unit during a IST game in which the Magic were up 40 vs the Raptors. Guess what, that 40+ diff would have made this team make the tournament. Its not like the Magic main guys were going to exhaust themselves playing 4 more mins vs the Raps 2nd/3rd stringers and all they had to do really was defend and waste clock. But nah Mosley put out the tankers and the Magic lead became +19 or something. Ridiculous.

[–] truscotsman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The only reason people have a problem with this are their fragile egos.

[–] Standard-Kangaroo-53@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bring in percentage to dictate ladder position when teams have the same record

[–] bjb406@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wish this was the celtics players saying this. I want guys who want to play until the whistle, and who expect others to as well. You should want the other guy to always give you their best.

[–] DJRyGuy20@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’m Team Booker on this all the way.

The overall acceptance on “running up the score” from foreign players and the mostly negative feelings toward it from the American players tells you all you need to know about why they’ve started to catch up and even overtake us in the sport.

The Americans sense of entitlement is real- and these same dudes complaining about getting smoked on the scoreboard would have absolutely no problem piling on points on a lesser team in the Olympics or FIBA.

[–] Latvia@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t even care about going full speed/ full effort to the final buzzer. But these dudes acting like you insulted their mom when you go make a wide open dunk are embarrassing. Like grow up. Play defense if you don’t like it.

[–] EchoLooper@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The NBA had to create an in season tournament to get their millionaires to play hard lol …. old school mentality players like Book are appreciated.

[–] Wildpinkhairuke@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Coming from the Raptor snitch

[–] Happiiihoured@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

except when you double in a pick up game, that's not "just high competition"

[–] CreatiScope@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Booker 100% right

[–] penguin_torpedo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It would work great if everyone competed till the end, but it's unfair for other teams when yours is playing a lesser team that's already eliminated so they don't have any reason to not pull out their starters late.

[–] Hooper53@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Just don't double-team him in an open gym tho
