Ms. Greene’s stance on the Epstein files — she is one of just three Republicans who have signed onto the petition to force a floor vote on the issue — and other issues like the war in Gaza have earned her strange new respect from Democrats who have been somewhat horrified to find themselves agreeing with Ms. Greene on, well, anything.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene is winning my respect,” Zaid Jilani, a progressive writer who has worked for left-leaning political action committees and think tanks, wrote in an recent opinion essay for The Washington Post.
Representative Ro Khanna, Democrat of California, who is helping to lead the charge to release the Epstein files, said that “despite strong differences, she is willing to work on areas where there may be common ground.” In July, Ms. Greene became the first Republican in Congress to describe the situation in Gaza as a “genocide,” breaking sharply with her party. “You can’t un-see dead children,” she said in the interview, describing what made her do so. “That’s not fake. It’s not war propaganda. They’re not actors. And journalists getting murdered and blown up? I don’t see that happening in any other war, and that’s shocking to me.”
This article strengthens my belief there is a growing rift between the traditionalists and the technologists. Maybe MTG actually has some moral convictions that are leading to her breaking from the traditionalists on these issues, but it also seems like she's clearly picking her side in the fight. Especially given the beef with her and Mike Johnson.
Ro Khanna is really good at pretending to be a decent human, but he's also attended fund raisers hosted by David Sacks (JD Vance's funder/creator) and been a sycophant for Peter Thiel for nearly a decade.
He's a democrat who pretends to be aligned with seeking justice, but frankly, he's a piece of shit. How can you claim you want to end a genocide while simultaneously profiting from your investments in the company providing the technology Israel is using to carry out that genocide?
The answer is simple, you're a hypocrite. You're performing a part, and playing a game with the lives of innocent people. Calling out a genocide you're profiting from is the most disgusting form of kayfabe I can imagine. This is exactly what is wrong with this country, and other than their competing interests, these people are no different than the side they criticize.
The goal seems to be oust Trump and replace him with JD Vance. I'll cheer this administration eating itself alive, but I will also call out this "maybe they're not so bad" complete horseshit narrative every time I see it.
When Ro Kahnna, Thomas Massie, MTG, and others are willing to completely disavow Peter Thiel (and his money/crypto/corporations) then maybe I'll believe they're looking to change this country for the better. But I highly doubt that will ever happen.
I don't know much about Zaid Jilani, but between this statement and this 2024 article that seems to be an attempt to soften the reality of who JD Vance really is my astroturfing bullshit detector indicates he's part of the same group.
Conservatives spent the last 50 years astroturfing a "grassroots" movement by buying actors to play the part. Please for the love of God, stop allowing them to paint their new generation of "grassroots" actors as progressive! Progressives want to move this country forward. They don't say the right thing in public sometimes, while profiting from the evil shit they call out.
That's not progress. It's just more of the same dishonest and immoral bullshit that has brought this country to the brink of destruction, but wrapped in a new more attractive package.
