Horribly written article such that by the time you get to the achievement , it seems underwhelming.

Here’s what I take from the article and it looks like a much bigger deal without the hyperbole and misdirection:

Team figured out a way to achieve much higher energy in an accelerator, sufficient to shrink a 10GeV accelerator from 2 miles to 66 feet

Thanks for that summary! Definitely an incredible achievement. 66ft could fit inside a lab, instead of inside a huge property. Hopefully democratizes particle accelerator research a tiny bit.

source does seem like an seo clickbait factory. Something to do with getting headlines into google news helps pay their bills I hope. Hopefully my script dodging adblock strategy kicks them in the shins. 'Our Team' seems plausible: https://www.sciencealert.com/our-team I'm pretty numb to writing styles as long as I can skim subjects and verbs. off topic: have an account on stop.voring.me and sometimes post from there. cat people hate it, haha comments: https://lemmy.world/post/8991421

Thanks for your service.

But I gotta say, that's an awesome piece of news!

"tiny" appears to be a relative term, came here expecting a pocket accelerator and was disappointed!
