The head of a presidential library resigned this week after a tug-of-war with the Trump administration over gift selection and a sword for King Charles III, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News.

Todd Arrington, a career historian who previously held posts with the National Park Service and National Archives and Records Administration, stepped down on Monday as director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home.

Sources said Arrington's departure came after he resisted taking an original Eisenhower sword out of the library's collection to give to King Charles last month during President Trump's unprecedented second state visit to the United Kingdom.

The best part of this article is that I learned Eric Trump announced that they plan to build Trump's presidential library in Miami.

Scientists predict Miami will be more than half underwater in 25-35 years. I hope to one day see his library submerged by the ocean.

Just visited the Eisenhower library in Abilene Ks, pretty cool place. Wish people would stand up to Trump instead of resigning.

Sure let's build a library for a fucking retard who can't even read good, or do anything else good.

That's assuming it's not leveled or something before then. Would anyone even waste the resources on maintenance or to rebuild it.

I'm tired of people just resigning. They are literally paving the way every single time to be replaced by one of his people.

They should stay on so Fox News can put a target on them and then MAGA can call in death threats and swat their whole family until they are fired.

And so they can be fired and potentially loose their pension/retirement.

Four U.S. officials involved in the lavish royal visit were unaware that the library director had left his job, and said the White House played no role in his exit.

Sure.

That man doesn't deserve to stand in the same room as Eisenhowers dirty socks let alone gift national treasures to a country we went to war with.

Trump doesn’t even deserve to stand in the same room with MY dirty socks, and I'm just an average Canadian.

Agreed, its just so shameful a draft dodger is trying to link himself to Eisenhower the last combat vet president who would I think beat the living shit out of trump on principal alone.

Sword spat!?

You have no idea how disappointed I was to learn that the head of the Eisenhower library lost a sword fight to Trump. Then I kept reading.
