Is that the new reduce, reuse, recycle ?

I'd put substitute first, but yours sounds better :)

(I'm a big Immich fan, and I'm taking and sharing photos more than ever before, in part because Immich is awesome, self hosted, and open source [the other part is that I have kids now so I'm taking way more photos that grandparents want to see].)

I need to move across to something open source. I'm using synology photos which is fine but it would be nice to use something that is foss and interoperable. Self hosting is the best solution

I've been really impressed with Immich, can't recommend it enough.

Everyone here is already doing it. If only we could get the millions on all the shit platforms to do the same.

I’m listening to the book now, about halfway through. If you’ve been on places like Lemmy or Reddit the past several years you’ve likely heard most of the anecdotes he presents to support his claims, but there’s some new ones I hadn’t heard that are interesting.

I really enjoyed Chokepoint Capitalism (2022), the book he co-authored (read: had someone else back up his frequently repeated anecdotes with reputable citations in a proper Bibliography) with Rebecca Giblin. 90% of the interview can be found in that book already with 10% being new slogans and anecdotes that can't be found in that book.

Didn't know about the Google McKinsey guy, wow. How long do we have to suffer until things change...?

You always did. People walking around with guns, religious fanatics, places where you can get killed for no reason. People abducted and tortured -> Guantanamo bay. Your economy is just running better and your military is way more offensive.
