NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
They should do out of bounds plays like in Spain so it keeps the flow instead of stopping and handing the ball to the ref.
Drones handling jump balls, refs fuck them up over half the time.
Or just get rid of jump balls altogether. We got way less jump balls in Europe and it is so much better
Asshats would bring their own drones and laser pointers
no backboard goaltending lol are you serious?
I want substitutions to be done on the fly like hockey, instead of during a stoppage in play. It would create mismatches and make the game even faster.
Those stoppages are for selling ads
This has never occurred to me but I love it. Would be absolute chaos and so fun.
How do they handle that though? Would that mean teams would have 6 guys on the court when one runs in and the other is running off? Or do they have to tag out like wrestling?
In sports that allow this, the teammate on that court usually has to get outside before the substituting teammate can go in. So for a few milliseconds you would have 4 players on the court, but never 6.
That would be chaos
Let’s also add the penalty box for techs and flagrants.

I think your idea is great on the surface but a huge part of the last seconds of a game involves stopping play with fouls.
There are no fast breaks at the end of games anyways
IST should be quarters won instead of point differential. You dont need teams running up the score for no reason.
- You can re-sign players that you acquired on draft night for any amount of money, but if it's above the max, it only counts as a max contract on your cap. If the player is traded, their salary reduces to the max. This means that a superstar player gets a bonus for staying with their original team, but loses the bonus if they get moved. You can't make them lose the bonus only if they request a trade, because then players would be encouraged to sandbag without formally requesting.
- Add an Ironman Award for the player who plays the most minutes in the regular season.
- Switch the other statistical awards, like the scoring title, to total points instead of points-per-game.
- Pay players per game that they actually play, prorated to 70 games so they can make above their original salary if they play more than that. Give them injury insurance that kicks in if they are unable to play more than 50 for legit medical reasons and compensates them to that amount.
- Make penalties for flopping, flagrant fouling, accrued technical fouls etc cumulative throughout the player's career. So dirty players can either stop or be out of the league completely within a few seasons.
- Let the Euroleague champions, the #1 NCAA Team, a group of streetball players who win a national tournament, or the WNBA champions (gender equality / entertainment) play against each other and have the top two play against the top two NBA teams left in the Semi-Finals In-Season Tournament Final. With the same cash award available to them ($500,000 per player) if they beat the NBA teams and win the Finals.
- Make the worst team in the NBA have lesser odds of getting the #1 pick then the second, third and fourth worst teams. That would be the end of tanking.
i really like all of those. the last one is great. never seen that from all the pundits trying to avoid tanking. seems so obvious once i read it. still helps bad teams, but at least gives them something to "try" for. nice list!
It would still promote the 10th worst team to throw their remaining 10 games to improve draft odds which is the bulk of tanking's problems
i get that side, but seeing the bottom 3 teams scrambling to not be last is amusing to me. it's like not getting picked last in a pick-up game. breathing that sigh of relief being picked 2nd to last is nice. or so i've been told...
I think defense would be more interesting if you got the ball back after blocking a shot out of bounds.
To count, the offensive player must be in a shooting motion when blocked (so that passes can't just be swatted out of bounds to gain possesion).
This is a rule I’m actually a fan of. I don’t think it would actually happen because it would drastically change the game I think
enforce the flop foul
You don't lose a challenge if you win it
That change already has been instituted.
A foul is a single shot for one point if missed and no shots if it's a make, and then the team that was fouled gets to inbound at the halfcourt.
Elam ending standard in all NBA games.
No live ball timeouts.
Remove the charging call.
No more fouling out. Players can get 6+ fouls and stay in the game.
Live inbounds like the Spanish league. You don't have to give the ball to the ref after out-of-bounds calls, just throw in immediately.
One timeout per half, 5 sec free throws
Tried watching nba with my girlfriend, we both agreed that there’s too many free throws. No more foul baiting bullshit. (Watched suns warriors where they shot like 76 free throws combined) it was hard for even me to watch but can’t imagine a casual fan watching it.
