The nazi tattoo is like my biggest red flag and I can't tell if I've just because of B.J. Blazkowicz

After seeing the media blitz about the tattoo I decided to check out his website

https://www.grahamforsenate.com/platform

while my platform spans many issues, I view most of my job as a US Senator as to do two things: one, to ban billionaires buying elections; two, to dismantle the “billionaire economy”, in favor of an economy that works for the American worker, for small business, for the vast majority of Americans. I will be a Senator for all those who can’t buy Senators.

Sounds like a legit progressive to me, anti-establishment and populist in the good way. I like his platform and I hope all of this attention does him more good than harm. Hard to be bothered by decades old tattoos when there are congresspeople with actual swastikas in their office.

the problem is no one can really know what his stance is because it's not beneath a person to lie to gain power. seems too risky and an easy way to end up with another Sinema/Fetterman type that blocks votes while claiming to be a Democrat/Progressive. i don't think now is the time to take chances and they need to find a better candidate to run while there still some time, because even if he's telling the truth this will be a non-starter for many voters.

He was in Blackwater and is a Nazi. And he did not apologize for his war crimes.

How the hell are people falling for this

So he's talked about gassing people in private chats? Has he said he loves Hitler?

Is there evidence of him using race or ethnicity as a bogeyman "other" to persecute and exile people?

Has he advocated for violence or extreme "solutions" to perceived problems in the country?

Frankly, nothing on his platform comes close to what is already happening in plain sight. Platner has stated he's anti-billionaire and that's clear enough a reason why all of this muck is getting raked. If you're going to do their work for them, I hope you're at least getting paid for it.

He did an interview on Pod Save America where he talks about the tattoo, and I think he did really well answering all the questions.

The tattoo looks like a giant fuckin smudge it could look like damn near anything if you squint. I think people are blowing this out of proportion. Regardless of how he got it, the military let it pass at least twice and they are pretty firm about extremist tattoos from my understanding.

I can understand not figuring out about the potential meaning if you aren't around people that will say something about it, if they even know. I mean, just looking at comments about this situation many people are also just now learning about the totenkopf. And if no one is telling you, who looks at their own tattoos without prompting and thinks, "imma google my own tattoos for shits and giggles".

Plus he got it covered up. His platform still sounds good. He's taking steps to address it. He doesn't seem like he'll be a fetterman. This hurts his run obviously, but I don't think he's the bad guy some people are trying to make him out to be. Not everyone runs around with an encyclopedic knowledge of hate symbols, let alone young soldiers.

Between the tattoo and working for mercenaries, I think he is a non-starter.

Edit: apparently there is a second tattoo

I'd say cautiously optimistic, hadnt seen the tattoo stuff before but doesn't look too bad, on surface reading of articles I could believe he legit didn't realize it looked like a Nazi thing, especially having taken it though army screening.

Honestly if anything some of the reddit posts that were found make me like him more and believe he might be an actual progressive

The fact that there was oppo ready to go on him like that leads me to believe he's a progressive.

The party didn't try to ratfuck fetterman.

EDIT: Just looked into the tattoo thing. Ratfuckery or no, this doesn't look good.

Anyone willing to tell AIPAC to go fuck themselves is on my permanent good list. Even better if they can make a menu to use when we eat the rich.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

the sentiment is good, but also i think most people with a nazi tattoo would be willing to tell AIPAC to go fuck themselves

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Considering many of them in the government are still actively protecting Israel, I think not.
